Job Description:
The Lead, Project Engineering operations has responsibility for leading corporate engineering operations programs, projects, and special initiatives with impact across the enterprise. This role will require working with Segment Program / Business / Functional leadership to ensure the engineering function meets customer needs and business demands. This position reports to the Director, Engineering Operations in the office of the CTO (CHQ Engineering). The scope of the role will require broad working knowledge of engineering disciplines and practices. In addition, the specialist is expected to display a strategic mindset and possess strong project planning and business / financial acumen. This position works closely with engineering leadership as well as leadership from other functional groups such Operations, HR, and Supply Chain. There could also be opportunities for frequent communication with the executives both written and in person.
Essential Functions:
Support the engineering operating rhythm within CHQ engineering team and across the enterprise.
Support key initiatives related to the engineering team and talent programs: University relations, recruiting, retention programs.
Manage the objectives and requirements of the business Engineering Leadership Development Program (ELDP), and the Leading in Engineering Achievement Program (LEAP). This includes, but not limited to candidate selection and management process. In addition, the annual program objectives and monthly forums operations.
Manage the delivery of the L3Harris Technical Fellows program. This encompasses the annual nomination process and facilitate the operations of the Enterprise Fellows Council.
Coordinate corporate level engineering awards and engineering engagement activities, such as E-Week.
Drive knowledge sharing of engineering best practices across business units and geographies; assist with vendor relationship and contracts for engineering standards and library resources.
Work jointly with HR to continue to enhance engineering talent development programs to build our talent pipeline and promote diversity.
Assist with the process of managing corporate-wide engineering policies and procedures.
Develop and deliver executive-facing presentations on project status and objectives.
Hybrid Work Location: You will need to live within commuting distance to our Melbourne, FL location. Work from home schedule will be dictated by the manager and business needs.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's with 9 years prior experience, Graduate Degree with 7 years prior experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Requires comprehensive level knowledge of job area. In-depth knowledge of project management.
Experience with engineering and leading a multi-disciplined team of engineers.
Experience with technology strategy generation and implementation.
Change agent with strong analytical skills.
Ability to implement and adapt project execution plans that will achieve technical, cost, and schedule requirements.
Excellent communication skills; ability to communicate, present and collaborate effectively across all segments and up to executive level.
