Job Description

Overview

FTI will provide Aircraft Systems Engineering support for analyzing requirements management, configuration management, risk management, service catalog, interface management, integration management, model-based systems engineering, and associated systems engineering governance.

Responsibilities

This tasking will comprise:

  • Supporting established systems engineering and software engineering processes

  • Planning and completing infrastructure and design engineering documentation and implementation

  • Analyzing and assessing technical documents

  • Studying and recommending the use and application of modern software tools supporting engineering development

  • Analyzing and making recommendations to the government in specialized work areas (Aircraft Structures and Environmental Control Systems) with focus on the following eight technical management processes:

  • Decision analysis

  • Technical planning

  • Technical assessment

  • Requirements management

  • Risk management

  • Configuration management

  • Technical data management

  • Interface management

  • Utilize established engineering principles in the design, fabrication, evaluation, and installation of structures and environmental control systems of aircraft

  • Design components, create integration plans, and lead efforts to upgrade/modernize aircrafts, including flight surfaces, structures, and avionics

  • May be involved in broader system-level design at higher levels. Utilize knowledge of fabrication and manufacturing to ensure final design is properly executed in the creation of aerospace components

  • Plan, coordinate, and direct processes and procedures to safety check aerospace systems and structures

  • Determine, track, and oversee maintenance and upgrades to aircraft to validate flight safety. Create, read, and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics

Education/Qualifications

  • Must possess an active DoD Secret clearance

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred

  • Master's degree in Engineering strongly preferred

  • 8+ years actively working as an Aircraft Systems or Systems Engineer

  • Experience with aircraft Environmental Control Systems highly desired

  • Ability to think critically, synthesize information from multiple sources into comprehensive plans, identify technical issues, and understand higher level impacts
