Job Description:

Caterpillar is hiring a Marketing Development Consultant focusing on Service Agreements for Cat Machines that include maintenance, repairs and rebuild agreements. This role is pivotal in aftermarket solutions development, positioning and sales support, specifically for service agreements, known as Customer Value Agreements (CVA). The role will focus on the strategy of offering longer, richer CVA's.

Job Duties:

  • Researching, developing, defining, prototyping, and piloting scalable CVA offerings. CVA's are Customer Value Agreements and is Caterpillar's and its dealers service agreement offerings that go beyond just maintenance and repairs

  • Lead competitive benchmarking and market research to develop an understanding of current market requirements, gaps in the market, and potential new service offers

  • Analyze large amounts of raw data to reach a conclusion and make a business recommendation

  • Understand and translate the voice of customer and the voice of the business into critical customer and business requirements

  • Work with a wide range of partners across the enterprise to develop solutions satisfying the critical requirements including Cat Financial and Cat Machine product groups

  • Work with Cat dealers and customers to pilot solutions and determine success

  • Develop tools and materials necessary to rapidly scale solutions

  • Regular direct external contact with suppliers, dealers, customers and internal contact with upper Caterpillar management

Part of the CISD (Construction Industries Services Division) team, this role is a key interface between the CISD Regional Sales teams, GCI (Global Construction Industry) and the Machine Product Groups. Primary in terfaces include: Industry Sales Reps, Industry Territory Managers, Industry Sales Managers, Industry Product Managers, Regional Product Marketing Teams, as well as CISD Aftermarket Sales Reps, Product Group Life Cycle Managers, Product Support Managers, and World Wide Market Managers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of product marketing, commercial or technical support experience

  • Experience creating, supporting or selling service agreements

  • Managing relationship between manufacturer and distributor

  • New Product or New Service introduction process experience / developing an idea through to a finished product ready for market

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of professional experience

  • Advanced proficiency utilizing Excel (pivot tables, graphing) and PowerPoint

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Experience with sales funnel management & CRM tools, lead management, merchandizing support programs, pricing and quoting systems

  • Experience with Product Support Sales processes

  • Experience leading Marketing and product development projects for customers, dealers and the manufacturer over the lifecycle of a capital good or heavy equipment product

  • Experience and demonstrated knowledge of aftermarket services and agreements in heavy equipment or large capital goods industry

  • Process and analytics acumen - ability to understand data and utilize to drive solutions

  • Organizational and analytical skills; highly proficient working team dynamics and interpersonal relationships to successfully influence others and achieve challenging goals across the global Caterpillar enterprise

Additional Information:

  • This position can be based in Peoria, IL; Cary, NC or Nashville, TN

  • Relocation is available

  • Up to 25% travel
