This position with support the integration and optimization of control systems hardware and software associated with capital equipment for the Baked Foods Industry. It includes requirements definition, electrical design and application of motor controls, machine controls, process controls, hydraulic controls, pneumatic controls, PLCs, HMIs and software for same.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: (Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Supports Sales by reviewing customer control systems specifications and design premises for compliance, recommends exceptions.

  • Creates and clearly documents control system software programs using structured programming techniques.

  • Tests and evaluates machines and systems in factory and field environments.

  • Works independently and seeks the cooperation of others in a team environment in order to produce the best possible control systems for our product line.

  • Communicates effectively, both verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers.

  • May Travel up to 20% of the year to domestic and international customer sites to perform maintenance, startup, and commissioning duties.

  • Performs system integration and support duties in cooperation with Mechanical Project Engineer(s) and supports Control Systems portion of Project Requirements Document (PRD) for assigned projects.

  • Contributes to the generation of Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) documents. Performs test and evaluation of own control systems and others as assigned, and supports Factory and Service Personnel in the performance of FAT and SAT.

  • Provides support for any control system issues of concern to customer as requested/directed.

  • Seeks to stay current with industrial control system technology by taking advantage of continuing education opportunities and reading trade journals/magazines.

  • Strives to improve department operations by participating in standardization, product improvement, and process improvement activities.

  • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills

  • Able to work on a variety of equipment

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred

  • At least three years of professional experience with Industrial Control Systems.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as purchase orders, quotations, requirements documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write requirements documents, specifications, evaluation and test reports, trip reports, operating instructions and correspondence.

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations.

  • Multilingual preferred (Spanish, Portuguese, Cantonese, French)

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as percent change, probability, and margin analysis.

  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, trigonometry, and algebra to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal logically with a variety of discrete and complex variables in situations where only limited standardization or guidelines exist.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Expertise in applications programming of Allen Bradley, Siemens PLCs, HMIs, and Drives.

  • Familiarity with other PLC and Supervisory control system platforms and software.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Windows and Office Applications, AutoCAD, and the ability to learn Peerless' business system.

  • The employee is often required to travel long distances (domestic and international) on airplanes, cars, or trains. This travel can be for durations of greater than 14 continuous hours and up to three weeks in length.

Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to upset or demanding customers, demanding schedules and potentially moving equipment.

  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high.

  • The employee will be subjected to customer owned facilities in which the conditions are unknown and uncontrolled by TPG.

  • These conditions may not be ideal; however they should not pose a safety hazard to the employee.
