Position Summary:
The Assistant Controller will report to the Division Controller and will be responsible for the daily operations of the financial team in Frankfort, Illinois. With responsibility for all local financial reporting, the assistant controller will manage work flow, meet all monthly reporting obligations, prepare analysis of financial data and other duties to support the team from a local and division perspective. As a leader for their team, the Assistant Controller will support all talent management, team development and related activities.

Primary Responsibilities:
Compiles financial reports from individual reports of subordinates required by management
Supervises and participates in preparing and auditing materials requiring analyses of supporting documents and insures that all entries are entered into the system properly
Identifies and resolves problems and inconsistencies, determining appropriate corrective procedures
Communicates and coordinates accounting policies, practices, and procedures with department and company managers and officials, vendors, reporting agencies, clients, customers, and the public
Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow
Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures
Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates
Serving as a backup and/or assisting, as needed, in functional accounting responsibilities (collections, A/R cash application, processing credit card payments, A/P voucher processing, handling customer/vendor calls, etc.)
Adjusts errors and complaints
Directly supervises 2-4 employees in the accounting area.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, interviewing, hiring and training employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees

- Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree - B.A. /B.S. from four-year College or University in Business or Accounting (or equivalent experience). Master's Degree/CPA a plus
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Good at listening and clarifying; responding well to questions
Ability to delegate work assignments. Match the responsibility to the person. Set expectations and monitor delegated activities. Provide recognition for results
Understand accounting principles and how the flow of transactions impact the GL, and use that knowledge and experience to take appropriate actions to resolve issues raised from A/R and A/P clerks
Be available to lead a team and provide regular performance feedback
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
Strong communication skills, written and verbal. Able to present information to all levels in the organization. Must be eligible for employment in the United States.
Travel domestically up to 15% of the time.
