Job Description

HII is seeking a qualified candidate for an X-Ray/Microscope Technician position. The ideal candidate will have a background in operating micro-focus CT and 2D X-ray machines as well as basic micro-focus x-ray machine maintenance. Photo mosaic microscope operation and microscope maintenance a plus.

This individual will work closely with the engineering team to provide x-ray data and mosaic microscope photos to support project objectives. The individual must work well in a team environment, but also manage individual tasks. The individual will also work directly with Customers to understand requirements to meet customer expectations.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Technical

  • Safe operation of X-ray systems consisting of a 450kV and 225kV x-ray source- protecting personnel and the customer equipment.

  • Perform maintenance activities on customer equipment per instructions and direction of a senior technician

  • Daily interaction with customers to understand needs and requirements

  • Perform reduction and reconstruction of data to build 3-D representations

  • Present data to customers in required formats

  • Keep records of developed techniques, maintenance processes and procedures

  • Learn new skills and software capabilities as new equipment is acquired or as customer requirements change

  • Ability to identify electronics components as well as printed circuit board components/architectures

Non-technical

  • Perform various tasks as needed

  • Must be able to lift items up to 50lbs, climb stairs, bend, kneel, twist and reach.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance (SCI eligible)

Skills

  • Solid technical background in Industry CT & X-Ray

  • Very strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Good judgement and strong work ethic

  • Able to take direction as needed and work independently as needed

Minimum Qualifications

Associates Degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 6 years related experience or High School Diploma or equivalent and 8 years related experience.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience with micro-focus and 2D x-ray of electronic components and processing x-ray results

  • Experience with 3D CAD modeling software a plus

  • Experience with software tools for x-ray imaging and processing (NSI efX applications, Nikon CT Pro applications, Volume Graphics VG Studio Max, ImageJ)

  • Ability to identify electronics components as well as printed circuit board components/architectures

  • Familiarity with a Leica dual axis microscope LAS X software (applications Suite X)

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel for reporting results

  • TS/SCI Clearance Preferred

Physical Requirements

May require working in an industrial or shipboard environment. Normally not required to lift more than 40 pounds higher than three feet above feet/floor level. May encounter extremes of temperature, pollution, humidity, noise, and other environmental factors while collecting data, observing performance of task teams.
