Caterpillar is seeking a Production Manager in Waco, TX. In this role, you will manage a team of up to 25 employees, production schedule and overall performance for either Assembly or Logistics functions with a focus on Caterpillar People, Quality, Velocity and Cost goals.
What you can look forward to in this role:
Monitor and improve safety on the shop floor; eliminate any unsafe operations and ensure a safe and clean product environment.
Determine processing needs to assure resources and methods are provided to meet schedules and production requirements.
Collaborate with partners daily to designate workload, priorities and sequence for work assigned.
Evaluate overtime need, priorities when resources are insufficient, and recognize when disciplinary action is necessary.
Collaborate the partners to suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency; work to improve processes, timeliness and reduce costs by eliminating non-value-added activities.
Ensure the quality of product produced conforms to Caterpillars Quality Policy while maintaining cost.
Ensure necessary parts and materials are ordered and distributed in a timely and efficient manner
Implement various corporate initiatives such as 5S, Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, CQMS/ISO certification, etc.
Train and develop staff, perform time keeping, estimate personnel needs, assign work, meet completion dates, and ensure consistent application of organizational needs.
A successful candidate in this role will showcase their skills in:
Planning and Organizing: Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.
Manufacturing Operations: Knowledge of manufacturing operations; ability to perform day-to-day operations of a manufacturing plant or facility for products.
Talent Management: Knowledge of human resources and talent management processes; ability to lead, motivate, evaluate, and reward employees at the workplace.
Manufacturing Safety: Knowledge of manufacturing safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers, environment and site.
Top Candidates for this position may also have:
Supervisory or team lead experience on the shop floor in either assembly or logistics demonstrating strong interpersonal abilities.
A demonstrated focus on safety
A demonstrated ability to train teams toward maximizing PQVC (or similar metrics) results while building a highly collaborative and supportive culture.
Strong knowledge in assembly or manufacturing logistics attained through significant experience.
Experience in New Product Introduction
