Overview
FTI is seeking a highly talented VMWare SME to support our AFMC HQ program. AFMC A3/6 (Air, Space and Information Operations (A3) Communications (A6)) has a mission to provide guidance and policy for all Command systems architectures of networks, legacy tools, emerging technologies, and future deployed solutions. Current methods for integrating the data, performing analysis and producing decision-quality reports are labor intensive. Air Force Material Command's headquarters is located at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. The headquarters staff ensures the command successfully manages its research, development, acquisition, test and logistics services that keep Air Force weapon systems and warfighters ready for combat.
This candidate will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and must possess a strong understanding of hosted virtual environments including virtualization, configutation managment, storage, networking, encryption, security and troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
VMware vSphere 7.0:
Install, configure and administer VMware ESXi 7.0.
Install, configure and administer VMware vCenter 7.0.
Create and configure vSphere virtual switches (standard and distributed).
Understand VLAN trunking to virtual switches.
Administer vSphere Virtual Machine File System (VMFS) datastores.
Build VMware virtual machine templates.
Clone VMware virtual machines from template.
Administer vSphere Lifecycle Manager.
Familiarity with vSAN (experience a plus).
PowerShell and PowerCLI scripting.
VMware Horizon:
Install, configure, and administer Horizon Connection Server.
Build gold image for Horizon.
Deploy Instant Clone desktop pools in Horizon.
Install, configure, and administer Dynamic Environment Manager.
Install, configure, and administer App Volumes.
Provide support to AFMC Main Operating Bases and Geographically Separated Units with troubleshooting and resolving VDI issues.
Education/Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems (MIS), Mathematics, IT, Cyber Security, or a related field. Master's degree in relevant field preferred.
DOD Secret Security Clearance.
Minimum of 10+ years of virtualization and support experience.
Up to date 8570 compliance required (e.g. Security + or IAT level II equivalence).
Must have experience building, designing, deploying, and troubleshooting a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure.
Experience with VMware vSphere 7.0 and VMware Horion.
Additional experience with any of the following is a plus:
SQL
Cisco Switches and Routers
Familiarity with NVIDIA GRID vGPU
