WORK LOCATION & TRAVEL
These positions will be based in Birmingham, AL and/or Atlanta, GA and will utilize a hybrid approach to work. Successful candidates are expected to be in the office or at a field location three days per week (or as needed) and can work remotely the remaining two days of the week. Candidates living outside of the area may be considered with the expectation that they could successfully travel to work and/or field locations as required.
Some relocation assistance is available if the selected candidate currently resides outside the Birmingham and/or Atlanta areas.
Travel expectations -

Extended trips (up to 5 days) may be necessary.
SUMMARY OF POSITION DUTIES
In this position you will:
Manage groundwater compliance activities in support of environmental assessment, monitoring and reporting, ash pond closure, and corrective action projects.
Manage and direct specialty environmental, geology, or civil subcontractors and consultants, including drill crews and sampling teams.
Prepare, review, and certify technical reports related to groundwater monitoring, assessment, and corrective action activities.
Work to support company's net zero goals, including CO 2 sequestration and wastewater injection.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education :
Minimum required education:
Bachelor's Degree in geology, hydrology, engineering (from an ABET accredited institution), environmental science, earth science, or similar.
Professional registration (PG or PE) encouraged or working towards certification when fully qualified.
Experience:
Requires experience in most or all of the following areas:
Preparation of plans for groundwater monitoring, sampling & analysis, site assessment, and corrective action
Field methods for drilling oversight, logging, soil and rock classification, and well installations
Groundwater monitoring and reporting
Environmental assessment and corrective action
Environmental permitting
Environmental sampling and data collection methods for soil, groundwater, and surface water
Regulatory compliance with land, water, and remediation requirements
Groundwater geochemistry
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Working knowledge of both federal and state regulations for land and water, and their application to site monitoring, assessments, and corrective action. Knowledge of federal and/or state Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) rules is highly desirable.
Proficiency in computing, field data acquisition systems, use and application of environmental software
Strong project management skills, including scheduling, estimating, and budget tracking
Excellent writing, speaking, and presentation skills; comfortable presenting data to a wide variety of audiences
Ability to work efficiently and effectively with multidisciplinary teams or individually in a demand-services environment
