SUMMARY

Uses various measuring and test equipment to perform QC inspection on incoming materials. Approve for release of production or fill our out nonconformance report and follow-up with quality engineer for corrective action. Performs first article inspections on new and existing parts from suppliers. Plays key role in non-conformance containment and implementation of process changes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Inspects and approves incoming materials by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.

  • Inspects in-process production by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, communicating required adjustments to production supervisor.

  • Approves finished products by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, returning products for re-work, and confirming re-work.

  • Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs, summarizes re-work and waste, and inputs data into quality database.

  • Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions and calibration requirements and calling for repairs.

  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.

  • Accomplishes quality and organization mission by completing related results as needed.

  • Assist in gage calibration program.

  • Performs visual inspection of product during all phases of manufacturing.

  • Inspect products and processes to ensure all work done meets or exceeds standards of the company's quality program.

  • Perform tests as needed in the Quality or Engineering Lab.

  • Minimum 3 years of Incoming Inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to use precision measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers etc.)

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Works cooperatively and congenially with co-workers to achieve cohesive and productive work processes

EDUCATION

  • HS Diploma or GED

  • Some college preferred

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee must be able to:

  • Required to attend work when scheduled. Attendance is an essential function and working overtime as scheduled to meet customer expectations

  • Lift and carry components, tools, or other items weighing no more than 35 pounds. Any component, tool, or item weighing more than 35 pounds, must be done with assistance.

  • Fine manipulation is needed for PC work and use of other office equipment.

  • Visual requirements include ability to read and follow directions.

  • This person may encounter office hazards.

  • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment in posted areas of the plant.

  • Total awareness of the plant environment as it pertains to the safety of other employees, operation of equipment, handling of equipment/materials, and visitors required.

Working Conditions

  • Working in manufacturing environment

  • Perform activities including bending, stooping, standing, walking

  • Stand and walk from four (4) to eight (8) hours per day

  • Climb up and down stairs four (4) to six (6) times per day

  • Operate common office equipment, i.e. PC, phone, copier, printer, fax
