Job Description

_SUMMARY:_ The EH&S Manager will be responsible for programs and practices that ensure the safety, health, and environment for a seasonally adjusted workforce of up to 150 employees at our West Salem, Extrusion - Vinyl manufacturing facility. _Primary Duties:_ * The EHS Manager position is responsible for developing, planning, coordinating, and directing environmental and health/safety activities to ensure employee engagement, regulatory compliance and implement the EHS management system to protect human health and the environment. _DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:_ * Establish a culture that is aligned with AM's EHS goals and objectives, with continuous EHS improvements. * Manage, direct, coach, lead, and motivate plant personnel to achieve EHS goals and objectives in a timely and safe manner, while continuously striving to improve safety skills & awareness. * Assist in planning, directing, and coordinating EHS compliance activities through functional teams, and with direction of AM's EHS Director. * Act as key EHS liaison with location manufacturing and maintenance organizations assisting in the execution of their strategic and tactical EHS plans. * Assist in the development and implementation of Environmental, Health and Safety programs and activities for the facility to achieve, maintain and exceed compliance with relevant regulatory laws and regulations as well as comply with AM's policies, standards, and procedures. * Responsible for directing incident investigations identifying root causes of EHS Incidents and executing sustainable corrective actions. * Identify and develop good working relationships with federal authorities (i.e., safety and environmental agencies, fire departments, etc.) as well as appropriate internal Environmental, Health and Safety contacts. * Develop, coordinate and/or conduct EH&S training programs. * Launch new Safety Observation Process for Managers and Supervisors. Fully utilize the Velocity EHS software to collect data and drive corrective actions to closure. * Track and communicate regular status updates to the EHS scorecard (monthly training, proactive initiatives, inspections, etc.). The scorecard and associated documentation must remain current in SharePoint throughout the year. * Support new equipment installation and plant rearrangement through layout review, planning and equipment buyoffs as needed. * Support the plant organization. Participate in Gemba Board process. Drive and lead changing plant need and schedules. * Coordinate and assist in the execution of capital EHS projects to ensure compliance with requirements and completion on a timely basis. This includes recommendation of EHS capital equipment purchases and other equipment to ensure compliance with rules and regulations. * Lead and assist employee safety teams to understand and own safety and compliance down to the lowest level of the organization. * Responsible for driving processes that will result in a reduction of EHS incidents and the identification of potential hazards present in the workplace. * Advise, develop, and facilitate safety training to new shop floor employees and supervisors. * Responsible for location's EHS Management Systems administrative requirements using Velocity EHS. _KEY RELATIONSHIPS:_ * The EHS Manager reports directly to AM's EHS Director with dotted line to location's Plant Manager. * Internal relationships include support to human resources, engineering, staff, supervisors, and other plant personnel. * External relationships include contacts with Corporate EHS staff, government representatives, suppliers, equipment vendors, contractors and others on matters related to EHS. _Qualifications:_ * Bachelor's degree in environmental, health or safety related discipline from an accredited institution. * Minimum 5+ years of environmental, health or safety experience in an Industrial manufacturing environment. * CSP or ASP credential preferred * Excellent communication skills * Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, ANSI and EPA regulations and reporting requirements. * Execution, attention to detail, initiative, conflict resolution, customer focus, collaboration, building ownership and commitment, establishing direction, drive for change, getting organizational support, tenacity, and skills in share point sites. * Demonstrated professional with passion for change and relentless focus on execution. * Must be highly organized; able to prioritize and meet target dates in a very fast-paced environment. * Strong oral and written communication, analytical, problem solving and human relations skills. * Results driven and accountable for actions. * Ability to work independently yet sees others as partners and essential team members. * Strong organizational and systems implementation. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Sound leadership coaching skills; investigation skills. #AM-WestSalemPlant All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
