Job Title: Cost Engineer
Job Description
Analyze the validity of automotive supplier part pricing and tooling uplift requests in a service environment. Evaluate changes in manufacturing processes, volume impact, and inflation. Calculate a 'should cost' and explain cost changes to internal and external stakeholders with competing agendas. Calculate, analyze, and adjust estimates, considering efficiency, floorspace, and inflation impact on labor and burden rates. Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions. Operate in a grey space environment with minimal direction and manage multiple projects. Work with internal combustion engines and various commodities, with a transition to BEVs in the next 5 years requiring knowledge of motors, electronics, and batteries. Organize and analyze different data sets across multiple commodities to tell a coherent story.
