Caterpillar's Electrification + Advanced Power Solutions Division is looking for an Engineering Specialist to serve as the battery performance lead within the Battery Development Team.

We are looking for top talent to build and scale the next generation team. This exciting opportunity will serve a critical role in the development of Battery Systems for wide range of Caterpillar mobile and stationary applications.

The Battery System development team consists of over 20 mechanical and electrical engineers developing the next generation of Caterpillar power sources. Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Assess new application battery requirements to identify potential solutions

  • Complete battery life assessments using available tools.

  • Thermal simulation of battery system using 1D and CFD simulation tools

  • Collaborate with simulation team to improve available simulation tools.

  • Engage with manufacturing engineering team to develop and implement battery EOL test protocols.

  • Collaboration with validation team to ensure battery performance considerations addressed in DVP&R

  • Review of battery lab and field test data to assess battery performance

  • Develop and maintain battery risk assessments

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an accredited engineering curriculum plus 5+ years of experience OR

  • Master's or Doctorate degree in an accredited engineering curriculum plus 3+ years of experience

  • 3+ years of power source or drivetrain performance experience at a component or system level.

  • 2+ years of battery development experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of drivetrain systems for a range of architectures (hybrid, BEV, etc.)

  • 5+ years of battery development experience

Additional information:

  • Position may sit in Mossville, IL or Lafayette, IN, Peoria, IL, Chicago, IL, Tucson, AZ

  • Position requires 50% of time to be spent in Peoria

  • Domestic relocation is available for this position

  • Sponsorship is not available for this position

  • Up to 15% domestic/international travel is required
