The Large Power Systems Division in Lafayette, IN currently has an opening as a Construction Electrician . This position will have the responsibility to perform preventive maintenance on machines and equipment throughout the facility. The primary areas of focus for the Construction Electrician will be new construction install. This individual will autonomously perform minor electrical repairs and process duties such as bending and running conduit and pulling wire of all sizes. Applicant will have experience with medium voltage circuits.

Job Duties/ Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Lay out, assemble, install and alter power light, signal and alarm systems, time clocks and signal systems and other types of industrial installations.

  • Constructs, alters and maintains distribution lines.

  • Builds, installs, or services interlocking control circuits and panels used in conjunction with machine tools.

  • Services and repairs the electrical equipment used with heat treatment units.

  • Repairs motor windings or rewinds motors.

  • Reconditions mechanical parts of all types of motors and generators, salvages used electrical equipment.

  • Wires machine tools upon installation or when a machine is moved to a different location.

  • Applicant must be willing to work overtime opportunities to support production demands.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the electrical repair of machines and related equipment, including experience with the following:

  • Cranes and hoists, conveyors, furnaces, washers

  • Experience with Low, Medium and High Voltage Switchgear.

  • Ability to demonstrate intermediate or higher proficiency in readying and interpreting electrical prints/schematics.

  • Basic mechanical skills

  • Ability to operate basic tools to complete the job.

  • Self-starter and self-motivated individual who works well individually in a team environment.

Note: Selected candidate must pass the color blindness test and must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces.

Top Candidates will also have:

  • Certified electrician Certificate or journeyman's card

Physical Requirements:

  • Candidates for all positions must have the ability to work in a fast pace, medium to heavy duty assembly, technical environment.

  • Work may involve frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling, twisting, turning, climbing, and standing on concrete for 8+ hours.

  • All positions also require the ability to lift 40 pounds and withstand frequent repetitive movement of hands with a variety of tooling.

  • Must be able to work in heights and confirmed spaces.

  • Shift: 1st shift (7:30am-3:30pm)

  • Starting hourly pay rate of $31.48

  • 40-hour work weeks with potential for Overtime
