JOB PURPOSE:
The Indirect Procurement organization currently has an opening for a Procurement Manager. As a procurement manager within the Software category team, you will provide software purchasing solutions expertise using contract negotiation, category management, and executing global software strategy to deliver maximum customer value.
JOB DUTIES:
Serve as the primary contact between Caterpillar and the supply base for global software category providing software procurement support to various business units.
Provide leadership for strategic sourcing - qualified supply network, business continuity, supplier risk management - capacity & financial, contract management, supplier commercial negotiations, cost/spend management, supplier on boarding/off boarding, contracting lead/response time optimization.
Accountable for the complete commercial relationship with the supplier including but not limited to managing supplier relationship, supplier performance, risk management, and category management.
Responsible for all commercial discussions/negotiations with the supply base
Responsible for development, management and execution of the global category strategy managing policies, agreements, and special procurement initiatives.
Demonstrate leadership in recognizing the potential for cost reductions, as well as responsibility for soundness of business proposals and risk assessment.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives.
Mentor and develop new buyers.
Promote the highest level of professionalism and business ethics.
Collaborate with other category buyers to foster continuous improvement in services, processes, and supplier relations.
Basic Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree from a college or university or minimum 8 years' experience as a commercial buyer.
Experience working with procurement systems (Coupa, GEP SMART or equivalent).
Experience with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
Experience is preferred in indirect purchasing, master agreement negotiations, as well as technology procurement.
This individual normally possesses software category procurement experience.
Professional certification in Purchasing and/or Inventory Management preferred, e.g., Certified Technology Procurement Specialist (CTPS) or a Certified Technology Procurement Executive (CTPE) or Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.), Certified in Production and Inventory management (CPIM) or comparable international certification.
Well-developed interpersonal skills are required in dealing with sensitive issues, developing others, and reaching consensus on specific actions.
Ability to lead teams, suppliers, and customers to effective solutions.
Analytical, problem solving, and project leadership skill.
Effective communicator, in written and oral form. Fluent in the English language.
Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles as applied by Caterpillar and our suppliers.
Strong Negotiator, able to interpret, analyze and negotiate contractual elements.
Self-starter with initiative who is skilled at coordinating, leading, and prioritizing multiple projects while making sure stakeholders are kept updated on progress.
