Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Senior Communications Specialist to be based in Riverdale, MD. The selected candidate will be act as a member of the Strategic Communications Team within AECOM. In this role, you will be dedicated to supporting the public relations, community engagement, and integrated communications needs of a major infrastructure project working with other communications professionals and a technical team.
AECOM Strategic Communications Services functions like a boutique public relations agency within the infrastructure and engineering firm. We manage communications projects for federal, state, local, and private sector clients in a variety of industries, including transportation, water, disaster and climate resilience, emergency management.
The ideal candidate is a communications practitioner with experience serving as a public information officer or community relations specialist on a project.
Responsibilities includes, but not limited to:
Developing and implementing communications strategies and plans.
Serving a client account and interfacing with clients and project partners.
Writing and delivering effective messaging via a variety of communications tactics.
Creating web and social media content.
Developing slide decks.
Event and meeting planning.
Occasional evening and weekend support of public meetings and events.
Handling public inquiries.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field
Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience.
Due to the nature of projects, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Valid U.S. Driver's License and as a condition of employment, must be able to pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records review.
Preferred Requirements:
Strong verbal and written communications skills.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Ability to build collaborative working relationships and prioritize competing demands.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $80,000.00 - $110,000.00.
