Overview
FTI is seeking a qualified Senior Data Scientist to support various U .S. Nav y customers, focused on maintenance , Force Generation Metrics (FGM), Corporate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) , and Condition - Based Maintenance (CBM+) programs. A successful candidate must be able to collaborate within a diverse program team comprised of FTI team members and Navy customers. The candidate must be able to communicate effectively in deciphering various Navy data sets .
Responsibilities
Develop various predictive models and analytic displays for various Navy communities.
Identify areas of operational optimization to reduce mishap risk.
Provide training to government personnel on predictive analytics model development and maintenance in a collaborative environment.
Collect, organize, and analyze diverse data types to identify patterns. Ultimately, these models will be used by senior leadership to implement various mitigation , optimization, and/or cost savings measures.
Participate in regular technical interchange meetings, analytical update meetings, program management reviews, and other meetings as required.
Education/Qualifications
Masters ' degree in business Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related fields and 5+ years' experience in similar role is required .
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must have an active secret DOD clearance. (Or be able to obtain)
Experience in exploratory data analysis, data cleaning, data mining, and data visualization (using platforms such as PowerBI , Tableau, R Shiny, Qlik, etc.).
Experience in statistical analysis, data analysis, or operational research, including coursework in calculus, probability/statistics, and linear algebra.
Familiarity with supervised learning algorithms such as linear/logistic regression, support vector machines, decision trees, neural networks, etc.
Proficiency in Git or other similar version control systems .
Proficiency in statistical or general programming languages such as R, Python, C/C++, Java, and JavaScript.
Experience in SQL database management systems such as Oracle, MySQL, AWS/Azure SQL Server, etc.
Stro ng critical think ing and problem-solving skills.
C lear and concise communication skills and ability to present complex concepts to internal and external stakeholders .
Curiosity. You will be expected to keep up with the latest trends, and constantly learn new skills.
Additional technical skills:
The skills below are not required but would be extremely valuable in this position and may be acquired on the job as necessary .
Experience with unsupervised learning algorithms including reinforcement learning and deep learning.
Familiarity with big data platforms like Hadoop, Spark, or Hive can for dealing with large datasets.
Understanding of data warehousing concepts and experience with tools like Redshift, Snowflake, or BigQuery .
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
