The Role: The Global Category Manager of Mechanical Seals, Bearings and Valves position will be responsible for developing and executing strategic global sourcing strategies. The position will execute and own the global category strategy and tactics required to support all Xylem Business Units & Growth Centers.
The candidate must have excellent leadership, organization, project management, communication, and negotiation skills with a solid understanding of procurement / sourcing and category management methodologies. Must also be a strong negotiator with the ability to drive value for business partners and suppliers and display strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative / integrative style of working to accomplish objectives. Must also have ability to influence and actively shape strategy along with a proven track record of building credible, reliable, customer focused sources of supply across multiple regions and multiple business units.
Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:
Developing and executing best-in-class sourcing strategies, both short and long term
Responsible for complete supply base management of key KPI's; Productivity, Supplier Quality, Delivery, Working Capital, Risk Management, VAVE, Continuous Improvement, Make vs. Buy, Material Price Formula (MPF) expansion and Sustainability & Diversity.
Forming key partnerships with our Strategic suppliers covering all growth centers.
Maintaining an effective supply chain consistently that provides our manufacturing facilities with quality material per specification.
Partnering with regional procurement leaders, R&D & Engineering (all key stakeholders) when developing overall Category Strategies and having a clear understanding of the internal Voice of the Customer.
Predicting future global trends and disruptions within the Industry and de-risking methodologies.
Drive opportunities to continually create productivity projects and lead the sourcing efforts needed to ensure completion of said tasks.
Identifying & executing second sourcing initiatives down to the sub-tier categories.
Run regular category project calls with cross functional team, closely monitoring progress to committed timeline. Establish and maintain a Corporate Electronics Council.
Manage commodity's KPI metrics, report and track the progress towards the annual team goals to ensure goals are met or exceeded.
Support a continuous improvement environment with a track record of achieving significant productivity improvement (Quality, Service Levels, Delivery and Cost) year on year.
Demonstrated success in change management and in building high performance cross functional global work teams.
Possess a decisive goal oriented and priority focus approach.
View teamwork and cross functional partnership as a primary means to achieve objectives.
Ability to analyze spend data and present insights based on the needs of the audience.
Demonstrated strategic sourcing skills in a multi-business, multi-location global environment.

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:
Minimum of 5 years' work experience in Corporate Procurement Management with focus in Mechanical components.
A Bachelor's degree required, major in Supply Chain / Procurement / Engineering / R&D preferred.
Project management experience in supply chain, engineering, or program management business area in global companies.
Demonstrated results in attaining year-over-year price reduction or cost savings in the business area supported. Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement with tangible results.
Strong project management and matrix organization collaboration skills are a must.
Support a continuous improvement environment with a track record of achieving significant productivity improvement (Quality, Service Levels, Delivery and Cost) year on year.
Ability to work with cross functional teams such as R&D, NPD sourcing, quality, services, materials etc. to achieve timely project execution.
Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously, maintaining timeline.
