Caterpillar is looking to add a Senior Communications Specialist to our Earthmoving Division team. The Earthmoving team is responsible for the products at the core of our company, including the machines upon which it was founded. This position is responsible for delivering strategic, internal communications plans in support of division goals, supporting our top strategic priorities, and serving as a business partner ensuring clear, thoughtful messaging for our employees and key stakeholders. Additionally, this position would be responsible for external communication processes such as editing some press releases, trade press, and supporting leader speaking opportunities. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator with strong writing and project management skills as well as expertise in developing strategic communications plans and experience supporting change management initiatives.
What you will do:
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and advise on the suitability of approaches for communication efforts around our strategic priorities. Build partnerships that are engaging and influence business decisions. Work as a strategic communications consultant for internal and external communication efforts, showcasing events, campaigns, and initiatives with a creative approach. Plan and create communications materials for employee communication channels; ensuring that messaging and branding are consistent across all channels. Deliver engaging and timely content that may include videos, talking points, internal articles, internal social media posts, large internal meetings, presentations, and external press release editing and support.
What you will have:
Establishing and Maintaining Trust: Knowledge of developing and maintaining trust; ability to develop trusting relationships and provide solicited, respected, and valued perspectives to clients/peers that guide thinking, facilitate issue resolution, and enhance client/peer capabilities.
Communicating for Impact and Interpersonal Relationships: Knowledge of the concepts, tools and creative techniques for effective listening and communicating; ability to apply these theories to receive, transmit and accurately interpret information and ideas to influence others in various situations. Knowledge of the techniques and the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner. Clarifies technical terminology to audiences; translates it in an easy-to-understand manner.
Planning and Organizing: Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way. Evaluates linkages and interrelationships through a change management approach.
Copywriting and Editing: Knowledge of copywriting and editing; ability to write, review and edit texts and documents . Develops a variety of typographies and publications. Proposes key considerations in writing business documents and publications.
Internal Communications: Knowledge of techniques and media for internal communications; ability to produce and distribute news, newsletters and other communications materials targeted at the employees.
Experience: Proficiency with the Office 365 suite of tools including PowerPoint, SharePoint, Viva Engage, etc. Experience working with graphic design and creative layouts. Video editing experience in Adobe Premier Pro is a plus.
