Position Objective:
ITW Drawform & Sexton is a $200M USD Division within Illinois Tool Works' Automotive Segment. It has an excellent reputation for delivering top results and exceeding customer expectations within the deep draw and aerosol can industries.
We are seeking candidates for a supply chain internship stationed at our Zeeland, MI facility which produces powertrain and safety parts for Tier 1 automotive suppliers. In addition to Zeeland, this position will have the ability to work across multiple plants in various regions of the country including - This position offers experience in your field of study and exposure to automotive manufacturing. The intern will develop product knowledge, and gain both problem solving and technical support skills during the experience. The intern will interact with other students, experts in Strategic Sourcing, and the Zeeland Plant Management Team. The assigned projects will be focused on supplier selection, development and performance tracking and will have an immediate impact. This position could lead to full time employment after the 12 - 16 week internship period.
Essential Functions:
. Respond to supply chain challenges and bring innovative solutions to the table; Implement strategic sourcing process improvements as well as Document new processes
. Resolve supplier billing issues
. Forecast future requirements for suppliers
. Assist with a wide variety of supplier relationship functions; review process that feeds supplier scorecards and identify improvements
. Develop strategies for sourcing that would increase our innovation pipeline, driving down costs, and influencing industries to transform themselves.
. Evaulate quote data and contribute to negotiating strategy
. Potential opportunity to travel to varying sites depending on projects assigned
. Opportunity to work a hybrid work model - Office/from home
. Present at the end of the term in front of a small group of people showcasing what was worked on.
Education/Experience:
Minimum Requirements
. Progress toward a bachelor's or advanced degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Transportation, Management, Operations, or a related field
. Rising junior or above with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
. Ability to work with minimal supervision
. Desire to learn, question, and research solutions to problems.
. Organized with the ability to manage deadlines.
. Good verbal and written communication skills as well the ability to utilize MS Teams to participate in meetings.
Preferred
. Previous purchasing, logistics, or supply chain internship experience
. Participation in Supply Chain case competition team or similar school association
. Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization
. Preferred candidates will reside and/or attend college or university in the West Michigan area.
