Navy Financial Analyst

The Navy Financial Analyst will be on a dynamic team in the Washington, D.C. area. Bring your expertise and collaborative skills to make an impact towards our military defense and safety of our sailors.

Serco supports the US Navy on a Carriers contract supporting the acquisition of Carriers. We are seeking a motivated individual to provide business, financial, and programmatic support to one of our NAVSEA customers.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide daily support to the Financial Management team.

  • Provide services including data gathering, budget and financial analysis, and trend analysis.

  • Be responsible for various financial functions such as budgeting, auditing, forecasting and analysis.

  • Collect and review financial data from various sources.

  • Create, maintain, and update financial databases and spreadsheets, and generate various financial reports as required, and maintain appropriate records and documentation.

  • Provide financial models and financial statements, apply forecasting techniques, and evaluate performance against budget submissions.

  • Coordinate with Branch Head and field activities to establish funding priorities.

  • Reconcile spend plans according to Resource Management Plan and weekly status reports.

  • Compile and submit Task Assignment Sheets to initiate financial transactions.

  • Provide biweekly metrics reports to Business Financial Manager.

  • Track and reconcile funds obligation and expenditure status.

  • Assist Financial Analysts in resolving accounting discrepancies.

  • Respond to financial data calls.

  • Provide draft input for Congressional budget exhibits.

  • Reconcile Spend Plans to match the Resource Management Plans.

  • Coordinate with the field activities to establish timely receipt of reimbursable funds.

  • Track direct site funds sent out on ZFD PR Addendums.

  • Review and develop analytical and technical input needed in order to evaluate documentation and development of briefs to ensure accurate, timely and essential information is provided to decision makers.

  • Prepare Unclassified and Classified briefs for audiences up to and including the Flag level.

  • Coordinate meetings and specified Program Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).

  • Set high personal standards for performance/conduct.

  • Demonstrate ability to be a team player; work well with others; contribute positively to work/team environment while continually seeking ways to enhance contribution to the team.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A current or active DoD Secret security clearance.

  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance, or related field is desired, but in lieu of a degree, Serco will consider a candidate with three or more years' experience directly supporting a Navy customer in a business or financial capacity.

  • Knowledge of the Navy's Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution processes and policies.

  • One year of past experience supporting a DoD customer as a financial analysist is desired. Must be familiar with rules governing the different Navy Appropriations, with specific knowledge of O&M,N accounts a desired bonus.

  • Be able to travel outside the DC area as required.

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • The ideal candidate will have experience in:

  • Budget Automation and Process Improvement

  • Cost Analysis

  • Data Management and Analysis

  • Navy Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and

  • Other DoN financial automated and budgeting systems to perform financial execution functions.

  • Up to two year's work experience within the DoD and/or the Armed Services.

  • Solid Microsoft Office skills to include MS Excel and PowerPoint.

  • You will have the ability to work both in a team environment and independently, and often under short, multiple deadlines.

  • Experience working in a Navy environment, specifically within PEO CVN or aircraft carriers in general.

  • Knowledge of DoD policies and NAVSEASYSCOM/PEO CVN policies and procedures.
