The Senior Director of Data Governance will establish and deploy an enterprise data governance strategy and framework, in partnership with business functions, brands, and technology. They will foster value creation at Inspire through data transparency, by enhancing data quality and establishing trust in data across data domains and brands. The Senior Director will be responsible for aligning data policy and data administration with relevant regulatory, legal, and ethical mandates.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Organize and chair a Data & Analytics Data Governance organization
Institute an enterprise Data Governance operating model that is consistent with the capabilities and competencies required to execute the Data Governance strategy
Directly manage a small team of full-time and partially-allocated Data Governance support staff
Define, refine, and execute a Data Governance framework to drive ongoing adoption of DG capabilities and prioritization of DG activities
Establish and manage the governance of data and algorithms used for analysis, analytical applications, and automated decision making
Foster the creation of a data-driven culture and related competencies and data literacy across the enterprise with a focus on promoting data self-service
Identify new sources of data that enable business innovation throughout the organization
Develop and maintain controls on data quality, interoperability, and data sources to effectively manage the corporate risk associated with the use of data and analytics
Ensure that the data used for financial reporting and to support legal requirements is valid, reliable, traceable, timely, available, secure, and consistent
Define, manage, and advance enterprise information management principles, policies, and programs for stewardship, advocacy, and custodianship of data and analytics, in concert with legal, information security, and corporate risk and compliance offices
Mentor and coach Business, Brand, and IT personnel on Data Governance best practices
Drive the Governance operating model to work with Data Providers to develop plans to resolve issues
Work as liaison between Data Governance Steering Committee and the Data Engineering team to influence without formal authority
Establish and govern frameworks and definitions related to data policies, regulatory compliance, and standards
Lead the execution of an Escalation Process for critical data issues
Assist in research, development, and implementation of strategic initiatives by participating in product determination to anticipate data-related impacts
Work proactively across data and functional domain teams, identify data sources and their owners, data users, and data processes
Partner with Data & Analytics Leadership to define a Governance Communication Strategy and then execute on that strategy
Design & deliver Data Governance change messaging to Data Providers, Data Engineers & Data Consumers
Build and maintain a data stewardship/ownership model for continually cleansed domain data
Celebrate winning stories, share lessons learned and mutual benefits
Facilitate workshops, interviews, and meetings for the Finance Data Governance Council
Support Data Governance Tooling activities and provide inputs into requirements
Participate in PI planning, product determination, and any Data Governance initiatives as needed
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION
4-year degree required
5+ years of professional experience in Data Governance, Data Privacy, or a related field
15+ years of professional experience in information technology with a focus on data
Experience defining strategic data priorities and executing priorities through oversight of projects
Experience leading operational teams of 20 or more internal and third-party resources
Privacy compliance experience, working with key regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc)
Thorough knowledge of data platforms, technologies, and environments
Project management skills
Advanced MS Office skills
Experience developing a Data Governance framework, operating model, implementation approach, roadmap, and best practices preferred
Experience defining Data Governance processes for an enterprise data capability preferred
Experience with data quality, data policy, data standards, data privacy, or data security preferred
Understanding of the data development lifecycle and data management principles (ETL/ELT process, SDLC, metadata management, data quality, etc.) preferred
Experience in a multi-brand or distributed business ecosystem preferred
Experience in the restaurant industry preferred
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS OR ABILITIES
The ideal candidate would have business and data governance experience in a multi-brand business
Strategy and management consulting experience,
Broad business experience internally and within the vertical industry, and
Broad experience in multiple competency areas of data and analytics delivery.
Examples are data governance, data architecture, data integration, data classification, data strategy, data quality management, data security and privacy, MDM, data standards, data warehousing, data lake, business intelligence (BI), and regulatory and compliance and enterprise architecture frameworks.
