Summary You will serve as a Supply Technician in the Supply Management Department, South Division, NAVFAC Material Operations Branch of NAVSUP FLEET LOGISTICS CENTER NORFOLK. Responsibilities You will be responsible for taking action on material requirements for maintenance, utilities, and transportation equipment. You will partner with the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) material liaison, shop store inventory managers, procurement personnel, and end users to oversee stock maintenance within prescribed levels using established procedures. You will facilitate the movement of routine items, expedite the movement of priority items, follow up on overdue material, and execute the full spectrum of warehousing functions in support of NAVFAC material requisitions. You will perform technical supply and warehouse operations duties. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications For the GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate knowledge of warehousing principles and methods to utilize the general warehousing plan to determine optimal location and functionality of materials through some or all of the following duties: 1) Assist senior employees by utilizing a knowledge of stock status information, shipping reports and locator record files to identify misplaced items and/or determine cause of material overages and shortages; 2) communicate effectively with coworkers, shop personnel, managers, and other Supply personnel 3) follow up on overdue material ; 4) Read and interpret instructions and production control and supply documents to process material orders; 5)Reading and understanding Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS); 6) Operate vehicles and forklift in a confined area to move or transport materials; 7) Assist in maintaining stock of materials/items within prescribed levels using established procedures; 8) Use Supply System software. For the GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of warehousing principles and methods to utilize the general warehousing plan, determine optimal location and organization of material in storage areas, and storage of items for maximum convenience of handling, and protection from damage, deterioration, and pilferage through some or all of the following duties: 1) Identify misplaced items and/or determine cause of material overages and shortages; 2) making list of items delayed in process or in back order and their status; 3) Receive parts, materials, components, and assemblies in order to store and distribute to various locations; 4) Prepare material requisition for parts and materials required in support of work operations; 5) Oversee shipment loading/unloading sequence and designate placement of items for inspection; 6) assemble parts into kits; 7) maintain pre-expended parts bins; 8) Use Supply System software to add or delete inventory and/or reorder items, or adjust supply levels.
