Job Description:

The Resource Industries Operations & Products Division currently has an opening for a 6-Sigma Black Belt within the Quality Department located in East Peoria, IL, specializing in fabrication inspection processes. As a 6-Sigma Black Belt with Caterpillar, you will provide Quality expertise, using Quality, Cost, Logistics, Development, and Management to deliver maximum value.

As a team member of RIOP Quality in East Peoria Operations you are responsible for supporting the Quality Management System within the assigned operational area, by providing expertise and advice on production or product problems fed back from both internal and external customers. To conduct investigations, analyze information and facilitate teams dealing with

issues/projects associated with resolution of quality problems. This position is required to be proactive to develop quality related control methodologies and systems such as Cost of Quality control and encourage the implementation of the established systems, along with analyzing and problem-solving during implementation. This position is also required to actively support Lean Manufacturing to help area owners set up goals and integrate Lean Practices with the Internal Quality Management System through standardization and documentation.

Job Duties / Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead projects to improve the Internal Quality Audit process

  • Utilize good project management skills to manage team activities

  • Participates in process FMEA for manufacturing processes

  • Audits process control implementation and effectiveness

  • Must have a thorough working knowledge of the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), BiQ (Built in Quality) execution, Process FMEA {failure mode & effects analysis}, Process Control Plans, Gage R&R {repeatability & reproducibility}

  • Identify and promote new technology opportunities for continuous improvement and cost reductions

  • Promote the highest level of professionalism and business ethics

  • Ability to influence others and be strong advocate of change management Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from a college or university, preferably in engineering

  • 6+ years' experience in quality, manufacturing, and/or engineering

Top Candidates will also have:

  • Project leadership and management experience

  • 6-Sigma Black Belt

  • Experience utilizing BiQ, PFMEAs / APQP / PPAP (Production Part Approval Process)

  • Strong understanding of quality tools, such as 8D, 5 Whys, SPC etc.

  • Strong analytical skills in gathering, analyzing, and improving key quality metrics

  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, CAD files, and tooling specifications

  • Strong understanding and utilization of GD&T

  • Strong data mining capability utilizing Power BI and other Microsoft Suite applications

  • Experience in engineering or manufacturing plus familiarity with manufacturing processes used to produce components and assemblies for Track Type Tractors

  • Understanding and exposure of Lean Manufacturing principles

  • Effective communicator, in written and oral form

  • Experience in developing and presenting presentations to upper management or suppliers

  • American Supply Quality (ASQ) quality certification
