In this role, you will manage identification and promote resolution of Fleet concerns while supporting the DDG 1000 ship class for the NAVSEA PMS 443 Readiness Office. This position has a direct impact on the effectiveness of Ships and Sailors.
This position supports the DDG 1000 Platform Sustainment Manager by providing oversight of the analysis and resolution of issues for the DDG 1000 ship class and advising leadership and the Fleet on program management. Assist the Life Cycle Management Group (LCMG) for DDG 1000 in the transition from PMS 500 to PMS 443. Assist in addressing DDG 1000 Class issues by coordinating with personnel from across the Surface Warfare Enterprise (NAVSEA, Warfare Centers, TYCOM, Fleet, NAVSUP, and NAVWAR). Provides specific oversight, management, and guidance to ISEAs, planning yards, TYCOMs, and other PEO SHIPS codes that support emergent DDG 1000 issues.
You will be a good fit for this position if you have performed staff work, have shipboard experience, and are familiar with the Navy's maintenance hierarchy.
In this role, you will:
Assist in collecting and analyzing DDG 1000 maintenance data.
Assist in providing administrative and policy direction concerning overall DDG 1000 program priorities and objectives.
Produce PowerPoint briefs showing DDG 1000 trend analysis and corrective actions.
Take undefined emergent tasks and drive them to completion.
Collaborate with stakeholders regarding technical, logistics, and other fleet issues and coordinate resolution of these issues.
Extract operational data, conduct research and conducting analysis, and present analysis up the Chain of Command, including the Flag and SES levels.
Attend meetings, draft written reports, and provide recommendations.
Coordinate and participate in working groups, program development forums, analytical activities and other forums as required to accomplish contract requirements.
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the lead Program Manager.
Position is in San Diego, CA.
Minimal travel required.
Qualifications
To be successful in this position:
An Active Secret Clearance is required at time of application.
Eligibility to obtain an Secret Clearance and Sponsorship may be considered for specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.
Clearance must be Active before on-boarding.
Bachelor's degree plus 5 - 7 years relevant work experience.
In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 10 years applicable work experience.
Experience onboard Navy ships or maintaining ship systems. Former enlisted or junior officers with engineering experience are encouraged to apply, as are former government service/contractors with Navy shipboard maintenance and modernization experience.
Additional desired experience and skills:
Strong communication skills (oral and written)
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Ability to prioritize and complete assigned tasking and represent military and government leaders at technical meetings.
