Position Description
If you love high profile and challenging programing projects supporting the US Navy- Serco has a great opportunity for you! You will be supporting Unmanned Underwater and Surface Vehicles (UUV/USV) operations in our Maritime Engineering, Technology and Sustainment (METS) team providing primary support to Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) in San Diego, CA and NSWC PC. This position supports a broad portfolio of Autonomous Maritime System (AMS) programs onboard a fast-growing local team.
Must have active Secret Clearance
Under general supervision, the individual operates and maintains boats in support of Navy operations, integration, and test for Unmanned Maritime Vehicles (UMV). As a boat captain you may operate various Navy chase vessels like a 50-60ft Sport Fisher or Express Boat and/or small vessels in the 11M Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB) size and classification or smaller. You will captain, launch, and recover vessels, transport vessels using Govt. vehicle, conduct pre-operation and preventative maintenance checks on vessels and trailers, conduct minor vessel maintenance, and minor vessel troubleshooting and repairs.
This position has a great potential for growth into more responsibility and senior roles within an expanding work team.
In this role, you will:
Support Navy vessel operations for research and development programs onsite NIWC PAC, San Diego Bay and at sea.
Transport vessels using government vehicles from Serco facilities to various launch locations on and off NIWC PAC.
Collaborate with operational levels of specific customers and company management.
Provide on-going technical assistance to managers and Government customers.
Must be able to perform preventive maintenance, minor trouble shooting and minor repairs on vessels.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds to assist with project requirements.
Must be able to support land and marine based testing in austere environments.
Must be flexible and able to adjust to shifting customer needs.
Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management. Must be continuously flexible to changing requirements.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements: To be successful in this roll, you will have:
Must have active Secret Clearance
Vessel operation experience required.
Minimum of Operator of Uninspected Passenger (OUPV)/Six-pack License required.
An active Secret clearance.
High School diploma plus 2 to 4 years of related experience.
Education requirements may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience of 5 years or more within the industry.
