Job Summary:
This position is responsible for completing various shop orders using specific fabrication skills and techniques. A working knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and mechanical principles is required. The position involves working closely with raw materials, using a variety of fabrication equipment, specialized machinery, and computerized devices. The position is accountable for ensuring that the quality of the components and products he/she creates conform to drawings and specifications.
Minimum Qualifications: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills):
High School Diploma or equivalency preferred. A combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered.
4 years of operational experience in the fabrication of components using both manually operated and computer-controlled fabrication equipment.
Forklift certification & scissor lift certification desirable.
Ability to fabricate geometrically complex sheet metal and/or copper components using an array of equipment including but not limited to a brake presses, shears, waterjet, folding, laser, plasma, etc.
Must be able to work well with all levels of personnel whether individually or in a team environment.
Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Willing to work any shift and overtime as required.
Ability to work independently.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Demonstrated ability to use a wide variety of both manually operated and computer-operated fabrication equipment.
Gain knowledge and ability to apply mathematics and measurement tools to setup equipment and ensure end products meet dimensional requirements and tolerances.
Gain working knowledge of Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
Able to close IFS operations ensuring material consumption is accurate.
Quality Assurance (QA) skills - experience with quality assurance and control processes employed to ensure that fabricated parts meet specifications and quality standards. Examine parts and components to ensure that they are free of defects.
Safety skills - demonstrated ability to follow safety standards and protocols and ensure the safety of other team members in proximity to all work areas.
Ability to work with maintenance team members to line operators to assist with repairs and troubleshooting and ensure equipment is properly maintained for reliable operation.
Team coordination - Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast paced, team environment. Ability to successfully collaborate with team members throughout the manufacturing process.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Frequently stand, walk, pull, bend and lift.
Exposure to weather, noise intensity level, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, wet and/or humid, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts.
