What We're Looking For
Responsible for assisting in the production and modification of design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans and specifications for assigned projects. This position performs research, development, calculations, design and delivery in partnership with the project team. Applies engineering techniques, procedures and design criteria for projects ranging in size and complexity. Leverages technical knowledge to assist in the execution and evaluation of project designs. Develops conceptual and detailed designs and calculations to support the project execution using current drawing and technical tools, programs and software. As a member of the team, you will contribute to the successful project delivery for a diverse range of projects for HNTB's clients.
Essential Responsibilities:
Provides execution and control of structural engineering project assignments to achieve project goals within scope, budget, and time schedules from initial startup through project completion.
Structural engineering tasks, such as research for code and project criteria, design calculations, quantity estimates and detailing.
preparation of design drawings and/or specifications and construction phase engineering tasks.
Coordinates efforts of assigned design team and provides quality assurance and control of assigned projects.
Technically involved in the design of building structures that may include performing detailed checking of engineering work done by others or general coordination of specific design aspects into a project.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Primary Focus Will Include:
The job responsibilities will primarily focus on structural engineering for rail and building structures. The specific duties will include structural engineering conceptual design through production of construction documents and construction phase services. Breath of duties will include structural concept design development, structural analysis, production of structural design documents, working in multi-disciplined design teams, building site observations, construction administration activities and mentoring junior engineers.
HNTB's primary project markets are in transportation architecture. Current projects include multi-modal transportation facilities.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
Master's Degree with a Structural Engineering focus
Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
Knowledgeable in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD
