In this Accounting Manager position, you will have the opportunity to become one of our future business leaders by leading a team of staff accountants and providing expertise on complex business, financial or managerial issues within the Caterpillar Oil & Gas (CO&G) Services business. The ability to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be critical as you will provide key support to the CO&G Services Sr. Accounting Manager, Commercial and Operations services teams.

What you will do:

  • Provides first level of supervision with both technical and administrative responsibility for a team of management staff.

  • Manages team's workload, prioritizes projects, and reviews work.

  • Evaluates and reports on staff performance, participates in employee selection, provides career guidance and training direction, complies with personnel practices, and promotes team rewards and successes.

  • Motivates team members to work towards individual and team goals / objectives and fosters an environment of teamwork and cooperation

  • Ensures team members complete monthly billings and journal entries on time.

  • Partners with the Sr. Accounting Manager to review contracts and determine accounting treatment.

  • Partners on a daily basis with Commercial and Operations team to ensure contracts are executed appropriately.

  • Due to supporting direct-to-customer business, must be flexible and able to work quickly to resolve customer billing or contract issues

  • Reviews current controls and provides updates as needed.

  • Leads the team in the creation and documentation of billing processes for customer contracts.

  • Supports monthly results reporting, contract performance analysis, as well as quarterly and annual forecasts.

What You Have:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance

  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision

  • Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems

  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment

  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors

  • Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.

  • Financial Reporting: Knowledge of processes, methods, and tools of financial reporting; ability to create and maintain accurate and thorough financial reports.

Additional Info :

  • This position will be located in our Houston, TX office

  • This role is a full time, Hybrid position and currently requires 3 days a week in office
