Responsibilities
Produces high-quality internal communications to support the objectives of Brookdale Senior Living. Contributes to the development of the internal communication and engagement strategy; consults with associates and crafts timely, effective, and meaningful business-related communications. Connects with Brookdale communities to write stories and profiles supporting the company's strategic goals, associate engagement, mission and culture. Supports company intranet and other communications channels.
Creates effective communications that support business strategies, goals, mission, and culture. Identifies opportunities to improve associate engagement, company performance, and culture related to assigned projects and initiatives.
Researches, writes, edits and proofreads stories and profiles for internal, and possible external use.
Researches, writes, and disseminates announcements for various program support materials.
Works with Communications Director, Communications Project Manager, and business owners to review documents submitted for the intranet and assist them in making adjustments and additions as needed.
Provides exceptional customer service to associates in support of communication department functions.
Serves as intranet content and contributor back up.
Assists with photo editing as directed.
Helps coordinate, plan, and execute company events, activities, and projects as needed

Qualifications
Education and Experience
Bachelors' Degree in Communications or related degree required.
Minimum of 1 year of communications or related experience.
Additional years of relevant experience can be substituted for the education requirement on a year for year basis.
Certifications, Licenses, and Other Special RequirementsNone.
Management/Decision MakingMakes standard and routine decisions with independent judgment. Applies existing guidelines and procedures where applicable and recommends new processes or vehicles as needed to meet the needs of projects.
Knowledge and Skills
A working knowledge of a skill or discipline that requires basic analytic ability. Excellent customer service attitude and ability. Commitment to company culture and mission. Effective communications skills - ability to talk to and work with many customers, content owners and departments. Strong sense of responsibility and attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines. Strong interest in writing about business operations and communicating this information to internal audiences. Excellent computer skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office-Word including tables, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Strong editing, grammar, spelling, formatting, writing, and detail review of documents. Ability to respond appropriately to confidential and sensitive issues.
