Job Description:
JOB PURPOSE: To assist and manage inventory processes, systems and procedures at the Midwest Logistics Center in Champaign, IL. Additionally, supporting the Midwest Logistics Center leadership team in leading team members, promoting cooperative team relationships, establishing and modifying priorities, gathering metrics, generating reports, overseeing work for multiple job classifications, etc. Additionally, daily safety and quality responsibilities are expected.
Team Lead Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
-Coordinate inventory audit processes and associated system adjustments
-Coordinate with logistics and internal process teams to handle receipt match discrepancies
-Interface with facility process partners and coordinate voice of customer to logistics team to improve processes
-Lead meetings with multifunctional team to track performance and drive results
-Lead inventory reconciliation and investigate root cause
-Regularly lead problem-solving events to drive continuous improvement
-Accountable for tracking inventory metrics and meeting Safety, Quality, Velocity and Cost goals
-Occasionally perform material handling and warehousing functions as required
-Work independently with minimal supervision
-Ability to work OT when required
-Occasionally lead team meetings guiding daily priorities and change management
-Demonstrating safety excellence and enforcing safety policies and procedures
Essential Job Functions:
-Occasionally lift parts up to 35 pounds individually or 70 pound as team lift
-Occasional bending, reaching and squatting while performing tasks
-Consistent usage of required PPE for task being performed
-Work in an environment with frequently changing temperatures
-Standing and/or sitting at a desk while performing tasks
Basic and/or Desired Qualifications may include, but are not limited to:
-Excellent written and verbal communications skills
-Demonstrated proficiency in mathematical and analytical skills
-Working with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point
-Good attendance record
-Ability to maintain accurate and complete records
-6 months to 1 year warehouse and/or order filling experience
-Ability to frequently lift and carry material weighing up to 35 pounds for intervals of 15 to 30 minutes
-Ability to read/write and interpret documents
-Ability to perform a variety of record keeping and reporting functions
Top candidates will also have:
-Demonstrated knowledge of existing Caterpillar policies and processes
-Demonstrated Lean Manufacturing experience
-Ability to work independently on a computer and basic software systems (ie Microsoft Office Suite)
-Prior knowledge of various warehouse management systems
-Ability to perform tasks in a fast-paced team environment
-Prior experience with Material Tracking System (MTS) transactions
-Strong Troubleshooting Skills
