Summary You will serve as a Fuel Distribution System Worker in the Fuel Department, Operations Division of NAVSUP FLC PEARL HARBOR. Responsibilities You will operate various types of work stations to receive fuel by tanker truck, pipeline, or ship at a fuel distribution work station. You will read meters, takes samples, temperature, water cuts, and gross liquid gauges. You will operate tank trucks for the delivery of fuel products to customers. You will follow federal and state rules when storing, using, handling, labeling, and disposing of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with environmental standards You will operate deep well turbine and centrifugal pumps when performing fueling and defueling operations You will operate a motor vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of over 32,000 lbs to include tank trucks and vacuum trucks; pickups, tow tractors, and forklifts; and in performing routine operator maintenance and minor repairs of system components Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. I have operated one or several specialized workstations of fuel storage and distribution system to load, unload, transfer, and store liquid fuels and petroleum products. I have operated fuel distribution pumps and accessory equipment to load, unload, and transfer fuels. I have performed operator, minor, and preventive maintenance on the fuel distribution systems, such as tanks, pumps, motors and valves that are part of a fuel department. I sampled and gauged tanks before, during, and the end of the fuel operations. I have experience manipulating numerous controls to properly regulate the flow of liquid fuels, and lube oils in a safe and efficient manner. I have experience operating various types of pumps and other fuel distribution equipment. I have knowledge of the physical properties and hazards associated with the handling of various types of petroleum fuels and I have complied with laws and regulations regarding the handling of hazardous materials. I have experience operating a motor vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of over 32,000lbs to include tank trucks, pickups, tow trackers, and forklifts; and in preforming routine operator maintenance. I have the ability to lift weights up to 50 pounds. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection.
