Purpose of Job

Provides executive leadership and direction for the execution of Claims Shared Services. Maintains and modernizes current applications and infrastructures as well as overseeing teams responsible for performing project management duties focusing on delivery of internal products and/or administrative systems. Responsible for the planning process and ensures the delivery of programs/projects from initiation through delivery, while interfacing with stakeholders and internal customers and ensuring solutions are compliant with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations. Owns the financial and strategic roadmaps. Seeks to increase productivity and lower cost of current suite of applications as well as to improve productivity to support new development.

Job Requirements

  • Identifies and manages existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role.

  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.

  • Follows written risk and compliance policies, standards, and procedures for business activities.

  • Provides daily oversight for the design and implementation of the organization's Shared Services communities of practice.

  • Leads modernization efforts and the development of common core business processes, systems, and procedures.

  • Demonstrates senior executive level thought leadership - in the development of the operational strategic plan and ensures alignment with business strategies. Creates a strategic vision around the development and documentation of future state process flows, to identify needed organizational and workflow change to ensure key results are achieved and delegated effectively.

  • Builds the Shared Services' objectives and implements plans consistent with the long-term interests of the organization.

  • Builds proactive and collaborative relationships with key internal partners and other stakeholders throughout the enterprise including IT, Risk, business leadership, etc.

  • Creates effective financial and business plans. Evaluates plans and responds to issues to ensure financial, reputational, and business risks are minimized.

  • Identifies inefficiencies and develops and executes process improvements, particularly by leveraging systems and automation.

  • Creates, executes, and revises business goals and objectives based on changing technology and business needs.

  • Leads the effort to build out and enhance new work streams geared toward operational efficiency and automation of deliverables used during the business life cycle.

  • Leads the alignment of the service delivery strategy with the business strategy.

  • Builds and oversees Executives and employees focused on providing operational support through ongoing execution of recruiting, development, retention, coaching and support, performance management, and managerial activities.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.

  • 10 years of experience defining and leading a support service within a mission driven organization that has a customer service philosophy.

  • 8 years of people leadership experience in building, managing and developing high-performing teams.

  • 7 years of experience developing and leading the obtainment of strategic goals and objectives within a large customer service focused organization.

  • Project management experience leading or coordinating technology-based transformations and process improvement initiatives.

  • Demonstrated experience developing strategies, managing major initiatives, and delivering results within a complex matrix environment.

  • Experience collaborating with key resources and stakeholders, influencing decisions, and managing work to achieve strategic goals.

  • Prior executive-level experience providing strategic and operational leadership of a disparate specialty team of shared services in support of broad operational / business objectives with proven expertise in multiple unrelated disciplines.

Preferred Experience:

  • Property and Casualty Claims experience

  • Specific experience managing claims adjudication and processes

Compensation:

USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $236,400.00 - 425,700.00.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

Long Term Incentive Plan: Cash payment for Executive level roles only, representing a cash payment which is both time and performance based.
