Job Description:
The Senior Specialist, Systems Engineer (SE) performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and troubleshooting for total systems and or subsystems. The Sr. Specialist SE is part of a team that supports the requirements, design, development, test, and integration of complex, specialized hardware/software systems installed on ground and airborne communication platforms.
Essential Functions:
Understand physical architectures incorporating voice, video, and data capability across multiple security domains
Review and evaluate electrical wiring diagrams to ensure design details trace to system requirements
Understand test, integration, verification, and validation planning
Write effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements
Translate the voice of the customer into system level requirements
Perform requirement traceability
Develop and evaluate trade studies for accuracy and completeness
Write subsystem specifications based on system level requirements
Evaluate alternative solutions and establish preliminary system designs
Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
U.S. Citizenship
Active Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance
Bachelor's Degree and minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
OR Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
A combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
A minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience with testing, integrating, and verifying software and/or hardware in a multi-domain mobile airborne data-link, video, and voice systems environment
A minimum of 6 years of experience with Aircraft communication system integration and communications ground/flight test support
A minimum of 6 years of experience with configuration and integration of aircraft RF and satellite communications systems, or cryptographic equipment
Preferred Additional Skills:
Working knowledge of LAN and VOIP protocols to include IP routing
Knowledge of mission systems: EO/IR, Video, Networks, SI/EW, etc
Model-based Systems Engineering and Simulation experience
Troubleshooting and multi-level testing for RF applications
Knowledge of requirement traceability methods and purpose
Knowledge of the systems engineering trade study process
Experience conducting verification testing
Experience working with subcontractors and U.S. Government customers
Experience developing, authoring, and implementing system test plans
Engineering efforts involving FAA-certified general category aircraft
Excellent written, oral, and presentation communications skills
