Job Description:
This position leads Caterpillar Defense's Growth Strategy development, prioritization, and communication efforts, within the Department of Defense and with traditional Ground Vehicle Prime Contractors. This individual will establish a strategic plan to bridge the gap from traditional, organic growth with current accounts as identified in the annual business plan and driving a structured growth plan to grow defense sales within the Department of Defense through major programs of record.
The individual in this position is responsible for the translation of business unit goals and objectives into an actionable roadmap. Leveraging their background experience in the defense acquisitions process, develop a growth strategy within the US DoD ground vehicle community by aligning Caterpillar Defense technology and product solutions with end user and prime contractor requirements. Creatively approach the DoD market with technical solutions from the Caterpillar product portfolio which add value or capability to new or existing platforms in the ground vehicle space. Exercise business acumen to ensure Caterpillar Defense projects are integrated with other enterprise business activities, improvement projects and overall Caterpillar Inc growth strategy.
The role is responsible for monitoring and evaluating government and defense industry trends and customer drivers and developing a thorough understanding of funding streams in order to align Caterpillar Defense product development efforts with DoD operational needs. This individual will leverage enterprise capabilities as well as the global reach of the Caterpillar Dealer network to drive growth opportunities at the both the enterprise and the dealer. The individual will analyze market segments and external opportunities and coordinate with marketing, sales, finance, and contract administration functions to maximize revenue generation through the direct DoD and Prime Contractor sales as well as the dealer channel.

The position reports to the Caterpillar Defense head of Business Development.
Basic Qualifications:
A college or university degree or equivalent experience.
8-10 years defense industry experience.
5 years Defense acquisitions experience
Requires a project leader with a defense background who has business development or marketing and technical experience, thinks futuristically, and has a global outlook.
Typically the role is served by an individual who has demonstrated experience in roles of increasing responsibility, which includes time in the field with customers and end users.
Demonstrated leadership experience in a large organization or globally focused business.
