Overview

The Enterprise Data Governance team within the Member Strategy Office drives data excellence by maximizing the value of data as a reliable and trusted business asset while promoting responsible data management, ensuring data is well managed and data risk is reduced. As a team, we ensure best practices for data governance across the enterprise by enforcing standardized policies, standards, and procedures. The Summer Associate chosen for this new and innovative role at Navy Federal will support Next Generation Data Governance Operations and Enablement teams in designing and building a leading-edge Enterprise-Wide Data Catalog. The Enterprise Data Catalog is critical to the work of Navy Federal Advanced Data Science, Machine Learning and Advanced Artificial Intelligence teams in building and deploying models, which will serve our members on their financial journeys, while also being a foundational capability in Navy Federal's work to support Data Privacy in response to an ever-evolving legal and regulatory landscape.

The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship program beginning in May 2024 and ending in August 2024. Students will work on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship. To qualify, applicants must be currently pursuing degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date of December 2024 or after.

Responsibilities

  • Serving in a Technical Product Owner capacity, supporting the development and implementation of an enterprise data catalog (requirements elicitation, agile ceremonies, stakeholder engagement, etc.)

  • Helping operationalize the Enterprise Data Governance Office by supporting the development of tools and processes

  • Participating in and providing insight to various key technological capabilities and organizational initiatives critical to the future of the Credit Union

  • Creating presentations/communications for the most senior level of management

  • Creating, maintaining, and prioritizing work entries in the product backlog for various Enterprise Data Governance initiatives, supporting operational and organizational objectives

  • Ensuring the right technology product is built the right way to maximize value for all relevant stakeholders

  • Collaborating with stakeholders to execute on the product strategy and roadmap; understands what users need and prioritizes what to build next

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a graduate degree in Business Administration, Information Systems Management, or other related degree

  • Strong interest in technology; understanding Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile development principles and methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc) a plus

  • Skilled at explaining complex topics through excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Analytical and strategic mindset; great attention to detail

  • Basic level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Exposure to data visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau)

  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills

  • Passionate, curious and excited to collaborate with various business units

  • Understanding of data and data management principles

Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 4:30PM

Navy Federal is now hybrid! Our standard enterprise requirement for a hybrid schedule is to report onsite 4-16 days each month. The number of days reporting onsite will ultimately be determined by the employee's leadership and business unit needs. You will learn more throughout the hiring and onboarding process.
