Pierce County Refuse in Fredrickson is seeking a Payroll Clerk to join the accounting team. The Payroll Clerk will help coordinate payroll for multiple districts in union and non-union environments. This is a great opportunity for a dedicated individual who is a hard worker and enjoys problem-solving and new challenges in an ever-changing and growing environment.
Schedule will be Monday - Friday from 8 AM - 5 PM. The pay range will be $25 - $30 per hour.
Duties:
Perform all essential functions required to process payroll in an accurate and timely manner, using Workday software.
Payroll related data entry
Provide assistance to employees at all locations on day-to-day payroll questions and concerns, showing a high level of support and top-quality customer service
Answer general pay and deduction questions from employees, including helping them understand paystub information, maintaining absolute confidentiality
Provide support to employees/supervisors needing assistance with time entry, in order to facilitate accurate information and expedite approval procedures
Provide weekly follow up with location to ensure all time entries are completed and approved in a timely manner
Ensure accuracy of payroll data and timeliness of payroll in accordance to legal requirements and company policies. Review bi-weekly check registers for accuracy.
Develop and maintain excellent working relationships and communication with business leaders
Assist with projects and other duties as needed
Understanding union contracts thoroughly to ensure proper implementation of payroll and time-off policies. As well as calculating payments of union benefits per union contract.
Requirements
Relevant accounting and payroll experience and education
Ability to work well while balancing multiple priorities and deadlines
Strong analytical and numerical skills
Proficient in MS Office - strong Excel skills
Ability to develop strong working relationships with business unit leaders
Ability to communicate effectively on a written and verbal basis to various levels of internal/external personnel
Attention to detail - very organized
Be accustomed to performing critical self-review of work
