CAD DRAFTER - TEMPORARY POSITION

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the design and development of mechanical and fluid ground systems in support of SpaceX launch engineering and operations at Cape Canaveral.

  • Work with multi-discipline project teams to develop 3D models to support launch engineering design and analyses

  • Follow defined SpaceX processes to prepare and release new hardware assembly drawings, and revise existing drawings as requested by launch engineering

  • Update existing designs and models to improve manufacturability

  • Modify existing CAD models and create drawing revisions as required

POSITION DETAILS:

This is a temporary position with SpaceX, for the length of time as stated, and is subject to change with minimal notice as business needs dictate.

  • LENGTH OF POSITION: 6 months (permanent hire conversion based on performance and business need)

  • LOCATION: Cape Canaveral, FL

  • SHIFT: Regular first-shift business hours

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree in drafting or design

  • 1+ years of professional experience creating either 2D drawings, or 3D models

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with machining, welding, sheet metal, and precision measurement equipment and techniques

  • 3+ years of professional experience with assembly or repair of complex mechanical components

  • 3+ years of professional experience creating 3D models and 2D orthographic drawings from rough sketches or similar informal input (i.e. verbal instruction, -design a rectangular plate to mate with 01234567-005 using fixed fasteners-)

  • Ability to understand and follow instructions from engineers

  • Basic knowledge of common materials (e.g. aluminum, steel, stainless, non-ferrous)

  • Basic knowledge of standard shapes (e.g. angle, plate, tubing, beams, etc.)

  • Strong time management skills; ability to adhere to a fixed schedule for delivery of models and drawings

  • Ability to multitask and plan and execute multiple assignments in an organized manner

SR. COUNSEL

The Sr. Counsel position offers a unique opportunity to span multiple legal disciplines at SpaceX, including litigation management. This role will also provide legal review and solutions-based counseling to cross-functional partners on a wide variety of complex legal and business matters, both in the United States and internationally.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage all facets of litigation, including labor/employment, consumer, contractual, commercial, and other kinds of legal disputes

  • Administer and resolve legal issues that arise in existing employment, commercial, and customer relationships

  • Draft, negotiate, review and interpret a wide variety of contracts, including service terms, partnerships, and complex commercial agreements

  • Identify and mitigate legal risk by implementing appropriate legal controls as needed

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • JD or foreign equivalent from an accredited law school

  • 10+ years of practicing attorney experience, including law firm, in-house, and/or government experience

  • Litigation experience

  • Active bar membership in at least one U.S. state

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • First or second chair trial experience

  • Knowledge of consumer protection laws

  • Prior experience managing legal issues for a high-growth multinational company

  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and build strong relationships with other business groups and/or clients

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proven ability to work both collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment

SECURITY OFFICER 2

Security Officers are dedicated security professionals with a demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team in a fast-paced high tech environment. Security Officers work as a team, patrolling the company's South Texas based properties via vehicle and foot and/or ensuring security at a series of fixed locations in accordance with federal, state, and local laws as well as company regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as operator in the conduct of static guard posts

  • Support the execution of plans in support of SpaceX Operations

  • Participate and assist in conducting advanced security training

  • Conduct research and analysis in support of SpaceX security missions

  • Observe area of responsibility and report any suspicious behavior to the Operations Center

  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor

  • Execute security support as dictated by SpaceX Security Leadership

  • Execute roving patrols of assigned locations

  • Provide mobile security support as directed by the Operations Center

  • Respond to emergency situations (Fire/Medical/Suspicious Person/etc.)

  • Support domestic flight hardware transportation operations

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate

  • 4+ years of active duty military, sworn law enforcement, or advanced corporate security experience

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 1 Year on the SpaceX Security Team as a Security Officer - Level 1

  • Military deployment and/or counterinsurgency experience

  • Aptitude for critical incident handling

  • CPR/First Aid for the Professional Rescuer or BLS for the Healthcare Provider

  • Computer based proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

  • Small unit leadership experience

  • Availability to work rotating schedule of 4 days on, 4 days off, 12 hours/day

  • Ability and willingness to occasionally stand in a static position for extended periods

  • Willingness to travel up to 15% of time in support of SpaceX Security requirements should the need arise

  • Valid driver's license

WELDING ENGINEER

This position will support manufacturing and development of SpaceX's Falcon 9 and Starship launch vehicles, Dragon spacecraft, and Starlink satellites alongside a strong group of design and build engineers. The person in this position will help develop, qualify, and optimize welding designs and processes including but not limited to; electron beam welding, laser beam welding, gas tungsten arc welding, orbital tube welding, resistance welding, gas metal arc welding, and plasma arc welding. The welding engineer in this role will interface daily with design and manufacturing engineers to make welding judgment calls and improvements and will enforce standardized practices and procedures on multiple welded assemblies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, optimize, and qualify weld processes and parameters for multiple welding processes including but not limited to: electron beam welding, laser beam welding, gas tungsten arc welding, orbital tube welding, resistance welding, gas metal arc welding, friction stir welding, and plasma arc welding

  • Support production operations on full scale welded assemblies, providing direction to manufacturing engineers and welders on correct techniques in a fast paced manufacturing environment

  • Set up welding qualification test campaigns and interpret mechanical testing and NDE results

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

RECEIVING SPECIALIST

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Acknowledge and take receipt of all incoming materials and packages, identify receipt in ERP system, and sort for transportation to identified location

WELD SUPPORT TECHNICIAN

We are currently seeking individuals to fill a Weld Support Technician position at our Texas test site. This position requires skill in a specialized trade in order to complete welding requirements and operational needs. The position is responsible for executing the activities of the weld support team (plasma programming/operating, saw, proof and clean pipe, material movements in and around the shop, and cross-training across these functions).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with Lead to complete the assignment/project, solve problems, meet deadlines, and review issues for consistent improvement

  • Support welding projects by performing tasks such as: plasma programming/operating, saw, proof and clean pipe, material movements in and around the shop, cleaning, etc.

  • Frequently communicate with engineers and other customers to resolve issues and meet demands

  • Join in problem solving and collaboration of SpaceX tasks and assignments

  • Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to execute welding support operations where procedural information is unavailable

  • Obtain and maintain licenses, operator permits or certifications as required

  • Make a continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly

  • Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate

  • 2+ years of experience with hand tools, band saws, or plasma torch in a construction, industrial or manufacturing environment

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 1+ year of experience with plasma table programming/operating

  • Experience working in a role supporting welding operations (prep - cut, clean, etc.)

  • Experience in a high mix/low volume (job shop) manufacturing environment

  • Knowledge of proof and clean operations

  • Knowledge in standard tools, materials, motions, and practices of the welding trade

  • Knowledge in occupational hazards and effective safety precautions of the trade

  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments

  • Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Working conditions may be in tight quarters and physical dexterity is required

  • Ability to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting upper body, working in cramped positions in small openings, and climbing hand over hand

  • Able to lift heavy objects up to 25lbs unassisted

  • Ability to work on ladders, lifts, and at elevated heights (up to 300 feet) with proper PPE

  • Able to respond to emergencies to support priority projects, missions, and launches

  • Available to work extended hours and weekends as needed; flexibility is required

  • Able to work in extreme outdoor environments when needed - heat, cold, wind, rain, etc.

  • Able to work in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise

PROCESS TECHNICIAN, PLASTIC INJECTION MOLDING

Working directly in the materials engineering group, this position will primarily support manufacturing and development of SpaceX's Starlink product components alongside a strong group of mechanical and process engineers. The goal of the team is to develop new manufacturing methods and qualify processes to be introduced into production. As a plastic injection molding technician, you will be responsible for maintaining daily production uptime of fully automated injection molding machines, including all subsequent post-mold operations. This position also involves the proper documentation of process settings through setup sheets and maintenance of process books and their contents. Other tasks relevant to the process technician include overseeing analyses, participating in work instruction development projects, and training others as necessary.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work area will be on the manufacturing floor running plastic injection molding machines, fixing the machines, setting up/calibrating the machines, operating the machines, and documenting as required. This is a hands on production job that includes meeting goals for production, quality, inventory of both parts and raw material, and personnel aspects

  • Install, commission and validate intelligent equipment to support injection molding applications

  • Participate in process development of the injection molding process through parameter optimization, DOE experiments, and trials that will lead to a robust process

  • Oversee operator instructions, critical parameters, checklists and training materials for all molding operations, update special equipment service manuals including BOMs, drawings, wiring schematics, recommended needed processes, technical expertise, and tooling for optimization of production runs

  • Work closely with product design engineering teams to define requirements

  • Diagnose equipment failures, collect data to identify root causes and develop sustainable solutions

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate

  • 5+ years plastic injection molding experience in a production environment

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 7+ years plastic injection molding experience in a production environment

  • Strong skills in troubleshooting with scientific, Paulson or RJG processes

  • Comprehensive knowledge and thorough understanding of robotics and auxiliary equipment used with plastics Injection molding machines

  • Experience of multi-shot molding, automated color blending and central material drying system

  • 3+ years experience with highly automated injection molding cells

  • 3+ years molding experience with Engel brand machines

  • Experience in independently troubleshooting advanced electrical circuits, electronic systems, motors & starters, electrically operated equipment and making successful repairs and modifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Office, and Word

  • Able to interpret geometrical tolerances on part drawings

  • Electrical wiring experience and some knowledge of how PLCs, sensors, and other electrical components are wired and work

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willingness to travel to other SpaceX sites and/or vendors for significant/extended periods of time (in excess of 50% of the time)

  • Ability to lift up to 35 Ibs unassisted

  • Standing/walking for long periods of time

  • Willingness to work long hours and weekends as necessary to accommodate manufacturing and test campaigns
