RECRUITING COORDINATOR

As a Recruiting Coordinator at SpaceX, your primary responsibility is to schedule all candidate phone and onsite interviews, as well as, make sure that candidates have a great experience and successful interview day. You will also provide support to your recruiting team, which may include but is not limited to, greeting and touring candidates, assisting with administrative tasks throughout the hiring process, and helping recruiters identify top talent by participating in recruiting events or sourcing.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Schedule phone and in person interviews

  • Manage onsite interview logistics

  • Learn about our business to the extent that enables you to speak intelligently about our rockets and spacecraft with candidates and client groups

  • Ensure that all candidates have a positive experience while interviewing with SpaceX

  • Assist the recruiting team with special projects as needed

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

  • Administrative experience

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 1+ years of professional experience in a marketing, human resources, sales, or customer service capacity

  • Minimum GPA of 3.2

  • Experience with Greenhouse or other applicant tracking system

  • Proficiency with MS Outlook and Microsoft Office tools

  • Basic knowledge of personnel policy and procedure in accordance to federal and state laws regarding employment practices

  • Ability to manage multiple on-going projects, be flexible to change, and adapt to shifting priorities

  • Team player with a high sense of urgency

  • Self-directed, detail-oriented problem solver with a strong passion to contribute to the team's success

  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with tact, diplomacy, and discretion

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels, including senior management, on one-to-one basis and in groups

  • Capacity to learn and speak intelligently about our business and the space industry

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Willing to work overtime as needed

  • This position is based in Hawthorne, CA; preference for candidates within a commutable distance (remote work not considered)

STRUCTURES ENGINEER (FALCON)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the build and inspection process for the structural assembly and integration of the Falcon Launch Vehicle.

  • Develop, qualify, and refine manufacturing processes to meet all design and business requirements including safety, quality, efficiency and delivery.

  • Collaborate with other Engineers, subject matter experts, and technicians to solve large-scale production challenges.

  • Work with Design Engineers to evaluate designs for manufacturability and implementation in a rapidly-evolving production environment.

  • Resolve product non-conformances and collaborate with the Quality team to implement root cause corrective actions.

  • Identify, plan, and execute capital equipment, machine, and layout upgrades to the meet volume production demand.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, materials, or industrial engineering.

  • 1+ year of engineering experience in manufacturing (internships and projects may be included).

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Master's degree in mechanical, aerospace, materials, or industrial engineering.

  • Involvement in a professional engineering society OR collegiate design project.

  • Experience with the build, assembly, or integration of large mechanical assemblies.

  • Knowledge of metallic manufacturing techniques, processes, and equipment related to fastening, drilling, bonding and automation.

  • Mechanical component and/or tooling design and analysis (3D computer-aided design).

  • Experience with process development from RND to high-volume manufacturing.

  • Experience writing work instructions and procedures for critical aerospace parts.

  • Experience in a production environment within the aerospace industry.

SILICON PACKAGING TECHNICIAN (STARLINK)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate packaging assembly machines to manufacture silicon devices, including but not limited to:

  • SMT placement, reflow, and solder print

  • Conformal coat, masking, epoxy application and coating

  • Component kitting and measurement

  • Optical and x-ray inspection

  • Routine inspection and maintenance of equipment

  • Perform functional testing on hardware

  • Inspect silicon packages for defects

  • Maintain tooling and consumable supply inventory

  • Follow work instructions and suggest improvements

  • Document non-conformances and associated rework and quickly return non-conforming product back into normal workflow

  • Independently perform verifications and document results in a clear, precise and complete manner

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate

  • 2+ years of experience using hand tools

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of experience working in silicon packaging assembly line

  • Experience with silicon packaging or SMT equipment

  • Soldering proficiency including IPC or JSTD certification

  • Proficient with computers, the ability to use MS Office, shop floor management software (ERP) and related programs

  • Strong understanding of technical documentation, engineering drawings, and schematics

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be willing to work all shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs

  • Repetitive assembly operations, grasping, standing, lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position

SR. TURBOMACHINERY ENGINEER, INDUCER HYDRODYNAMICS

Lead the design, development and qualification of rocket turbopump inducers for multiple applications at SpaceX, taking the designs from initial concept to flight or other operations. Being successful in this role will require a strong technical knowledge of inducers, cavitation dynamics, coupled hydrodynamic and mechanical design and a broader turbomachinery system understanding as well as the ability to work with a wider team of specialists in the various sub systems. Ensuring that inducer solutions are developed with aggressive manufacturing goals, minimum cost/weight and on an aggressive schedule is also key to success.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, build and test turbopumps for liquid fueled rocket engines and other rocket or spacecraft systems

  • Own critical turbomachinery components, as every engineer at SpaceX assumes profound responsibility for their hardware

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as the technical point of contact for assigned parts, solving emergent challenges at suppliers and mitigating risk to the manifest by addressing high-impact manufacturing and quality challenges

  • Review issues on assigned parts and solve to the root cause, implementing changes at the supplier, at SpaceX or both, as appropriate, drive further actions to closure, and re-source to new suppliers where appropriate

  • Create and disposition issue tickets where needed, working with engineering counterparts to implement, but not limited to, required re-work, repair or use as-is disposition

The integration and catch tower will redefine ground support systems for launch vehicles as we know it, with the ultimate goal being to launch, catch, and relaunch orbital boosters in hours or days instead weeks or months. The Build Engineer role covers design for manufacturability concepts through integration and testing of the full tower. FINANCIAL ANALYST

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead forecast of key performance indicators (KPIs), including spend and resource requirements for assigned business groups, such as headcount, capital, and operating expenses

DRAGON FLIGHT RELIABILITY ENGINEER

As a Dragon Flight Reliability Engineer, you will directly impact the Dragon vehicles that supply critical science, supplies, and crew to the International Space Station. The Flight Reliability team coordinates launch readiness of all vehicles and verifies that the vehicle, software, and operations teams are prepared to fly. During and after the mission, the Flight Reliability team owns any anomaly investigations and drives continuous improvement by incorporating lessons learned from previous flights.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for assessing pre-flight risks and potential mitigations with vehicle design, analysis, and operations teams, as well as communicating these risks to engineering leadership and NASA.

  • Lead pre-flight readiness reviews during launch campaigns to verify all pre-flight risks are mitigated appropriately, launch site issues are dispositioned and verified, and critical pre-flight testing and review activities are completed.

  • During flight, support mission operations to investigate observations or anomalies and make clear recommendations to engineering leadership and mission operators for real-time or future actions.

  • Work with design and analysis groups after missions to review data, anomalies and observations.

  • Lead root cause investigations of significant in-flight anomalies and drive corrective actions.

  • Communicate the overall performance of the vehicle relative to the mission objectives to internal and external customers.

  • Work with Design and Build Reliability organization to implement lessons learned to improve the SpaceX development process, as well as review vehicle design and operations concepts for future applications.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.

  • 1+ years in a manufacturing, quality and/or design engineering role (student project team or internship experience qualifies)

We're seeking an experienced test technician with a strong affinity toward multidisciplinary testing, design development, and problem solving. Test technicians work hand-in-hand with multidisciplinary engineers while supporting satellite hardware testing throughout the design and build processes to ultimately join our revolutionary fleet of Starlink satellites.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assemble, instrument, and test satellite flight hardware throughout development, production, and on-orbit correlation testing phases

  • Monitor and assess test asset performance and test article throughout development and validation campaigns

  • Assemble, troubleshoot and activate custom test racks and automated equipment interfaces to increase test lab capability and unit test quality

  • Activate, evaluate, monitor, and maintain space simulation test equipment (thermal, thermal vacuum, HASS/HALT, vibration, and shock)

  • Perform structural test build and execution for a variety of large and small scale structural and mechanical satellite components

  • Responsible for the day-to-day execution of space simulation testing

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate

  • 3+ years of hands on experience with mechanical, structural, fluid, or electrical systems

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Sr. CIVIL/STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

As a member of the Construction Projects Team, you will work with a group of elite engineers across multiple disciplines to design, build, and activate infrastructure for a variety of projects at the both the Rocket Development Facility in Texas as well as other facilities across SpaceX. This position is based in McGregor, TX.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the project team, consulting engineers and contractors throughout the entirety of the civil and structural engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning process

  • Develop and issue drawings, design documentation, and reports for aerospace, industrial, and commercial type projects

  • Perform both civil and structural design and analysis calculations for structural steel and concrete

  • Write, negotiate, and manage construction contracts with subcontractors across multiple disciplines through contract close-out

  • Manage the civil and structural aspects of construction projects

  • Interact with contractors, fabricators, owners, and clients

  • Provide direct onsite engineering inspections and field observations

PRINCIPAL PROCESS ENGINEER, PLASTIC INJECTION MOLDING

This role would be on the materials engineering team, supporting plastic injection molding. The materials engineering team supports materials across SpaceX via identification, development, and implementation of advanced materials and processes. You will work closely with our engineering teams in the early phases of injection molding process development and equipment commissioning to drive the development of plastic injection molding at the company. Through your work in this role, you will be enabling SpaceX to manufacture a truly unique product

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Specify, design, install, commission and validate intelligent equipment to support injection molding applications

  • Lead process development of the injection molding process through parameter optimization, DOE experiments, and trials that will lead to a robust process

  • Work closely with product design engineering teams to define requirements

  • Lead the subassembly and system level manufacturing line processes, oversee the design and assembly of tools, fixtures and automated assembly equipment or approve all manufacturing-related plastic injection molded and new assembly integration procedures

  • Oversee operator instructions, critical parameters, checklists and training materials for all molding operations, update special equipment service manuals including BOMs, drawings, wiring schematics, recommended needed processes, technical expertise, and tooling for optimization of production runs

  • Diagnose equipment failures, collect data to identify root causes and develop sustainable solutions

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering, manufacturing or technology discipline

  • 8+ years of experience in plastic injection molding process design, manufacturing engineering, equipment commissioning, robot programming and/or control systems design

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in materials engineering

  • Master's degree or PhD degree in materials engineering or mechanical engineering

  • 12+ years of experience in plastic injection molding process design, manufacturing engineering, equipment commissioning, robot programming and control systems design

  • Experience developing manufacturing processes for new and unique products

  • Experience transitioning products from prototype to production

  • Experience defining and assessing quality standards associated with common manufacturing processes including drawing specifications, limit samples, and incoming/outgoing quality control points with a proven track-record of shepherding products from tool release to mass production

  • Experience with manufacturing process like injection molding, CNC, die casting, stamping, assembly, and box build in a production setting and a good understanding of the costs and schedule and complexity associated with each process

  • Experience creating & maintaining a positive atmosphere in a collaborative work team

MARINE OPERATIONS SCHEDULER

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide tactical and strategic long-range scheduling expertise to our marine operations team that supports both offshore hardware and crew recovery, and other missions

  • Coordinate and review input from engineering, manufacturing and suppliers to support and maintain master schedules for vessels

  • Work across all departments to understand critical work requests ahead and behind targets to mitigate schedule impact risks

  • Utilize our factory scheduler application and other applicable tools to ensure work is scheduled and prioritized accurately and efficiently, and resources allocated appropriately

  • Prepare daily work schedules, track work progress, update and communicate project critical path schedules, and advise leadership of needed adjustments to daily work activities

  • Ensure tooling and test equipment requirements are properly scheduled to facilitate an efficient production process

  • Support accuracy of internal logistics movement of critical work

  • Push/pull work into the recovery operations process to improve lead times, reduce stagnation, and meet schedule needs

  • Utilize production, operations planning, and engineering support to eliminate internal and external blockers to deliver product on time

  • Remain abreast and knowledgeable regarding applicable facilities and manpower

  • Identify and support improvement opportunities for product yield, quality, safety, cost and team efficiency

  • Develop and support efforts to streamline assigned products and automate production processes as applicable

  • Organize and communicate the daily priorities to production coordinators, team leads and supervisors as required

  • Provide daily visibility, weekly status, and monthly reviews on schedule performance

  • Create and leverage metrics to highlight part or labor shortages and determine schedule risks

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, management information systems, computer science, finance, or engineering discipline OR 2+ years of professional manufacturing scheduling experience

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 2+ years of professional experience with ERP/MRP systems in a production environment

  • Experience writing queries with SQL

  • Strong computer and data analytical skills including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, and other visualization tools

  • Strong organizational, analytical, verbal and written communication skills including public speaking.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be available for all shifts, extended hours, and/or weekends as needed

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted

  • Must be able to work outdoors and in maritime environments

  • Ability to pass Air Force background checks for Cape Canaveral

LAUNCH ENGINEER (FLIGHT HARDWARE LOGISTICS)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Help maintain the critical movement of flight hardware from production through test facilities and launch sites

  • Responsible for the execution of moving rocket stages throughout the Cape Canaveral launch site

  • Responsible for developing, directing, and executing safe proofing operations of ground support equipment (GSE) from multiple areas across SpaceX

  • Write and execute maintenance, inspection, and repair plans for flight hardware movement systems and associated GSE across three states

  • Work closely with technicians and other engineers to coordinate completion in a time critical environment

  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians when performing critical operations on non-flight hardware including mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems

  • Perform activation, testing and upgrades of GSE as necessitated by engineering or operational changes

  • Develop work instructions to support ongoing operations, upgrades, maintenance and repairs

  • Effectively communicate timelines, costs and risk associated with GSE maintenance and repairs

  • Field engineer proof fixtures and retrofits to existing transport fixtures

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, physics, aerospace engineering, or other engineering discipline

  • 1+ years of hands-on experience working with mechanical or structural hardware

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 2+ years of professional experience in a maintenance or operations engineering role

  • Professional experience in an engineering role in the aerospace or aviation industry

  • Professional experience working with heavy equipment

  • Experience with the running and maintenance of hydraulic systems

  • Experience with manufacturing and inspection techniques: welded structures, machining, weld inspection, proof testing, precision dimensional inspection, tool calibration

  • Experience with crane operations (mobile and fixed) and rigging hardware

  • Experience performing operations with high pressure gases

  • Experience authoring technical documentation: inspection plans, operational procedures and test plans

  • Mechanical design and analysis skills (CAD, FEM)

  • Programming experience with Programable Logic Controllers (PLCs) on hydraulic or other industrial equipment

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be willing to work weekends and night shifts as needed

  • Physical effort including standing, lifting and carrying moderately heavy materials or equipment (15 to 50 lbs.)

  • Occasional travel may be required

  • Willingness to work outdoors

  • Ability to pass Air Force background checks for Cape Canaveral
