Job Description

This position provides support to the regulatory affairs department in day-to-day responsibilities as well as rate case management and strategic initiatives. This role will manage compliance and reconciliation filings, manage rate case and other filing data request processes, conduct analysis for regulatory matters and legislative proposals, research, track and complete internal management updates, and engage with ICC Staff on daily matters.

Functional Expertise:

  • Manage the discovery review process for regulatory filings and rate cases.

  • Project manage regulatory filings and initiatives working cross-functionally to secure information and/or supporting other regulatory team members

  • Conduct industry related research and financial data analysis as needed to support regulatory initiatives and filings. Research may be IL admin code specific, industry related regulatory filings, or financial analysis.

  • Assists in the drafting and coordination of witness testimony for regulatory filings

  • Manages the on-line filing system of regulatory filings and information, and electronic filing/case management database.

  • Conducts internal reporting of on-going regulatory activity and maintains the calendar for the Regulatory Affairs team.

Business Acumen:

  • Proven ability to independently manage, plan, organize and prioritize detailed aspects of several projects/issues simultaneously

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work with financial reports, track financial data, and evaluate metrics.

Qualifications

Education, Certifications/Licenses:

Required:

  • B.S./B.A. Business/Business Administration or other bachelor's degree with relevant work experience

  • 1 to 2 years conducting data analysis, coordinating projects or related program management.

Preferred:

  • 1 to 2 years of experience professional experience in rates, accounting, finance, operations, government affairs, community affairs or regulatory arena preferably in the energy sector.

Specific Skills& Knowledge:

  • High proficiency at MS Word, SharePoint, MS Excel and PowerPoint.

THIS IS A GENERAL TECHNICIAN ABOVE GROUND POSITION

Entry level position responsible for completing a variety of tasks in support of field operations to include deactivation of service, delayed match, corrosion inspections, meter paints, reading meters and assisting with other maintenance activities as needed. Serves as a member of a crew engaged in installing, maintaining, and repairing gas mains and service lines. Performs basic tasks including operating heavy equipment, using hand tools, basic leak investigation, assisting in mechanical joining, landscape maintenance and traffic control. Performs meter reading, ERT installations and ERT programming in conjunction Automated Meter Reading duties. This is a bargaining unit position (IBEW Local 1997). This position will have an automatic progression pursuant to the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Efficiently works a route to complete customer and compliance orders in a timely manner and in accordance with company policies and procedures and operator qualifications procedures.

  • Observes all safety requirements and regulatory guidelines to ensure compliance.

  • Actively and accurately captures documentation in the Mobile Data Terminal and recognizes abnormal operating conditions such as corrosion, meters under stress, etc.

  • Assists in connecting and disconnecting gas service, manually turning meters on and off.

  • Assists in conducting investigations of high bill complaints, stop meters and special readings by meter reading validation.

  • Assists in performing regular meter inspections, paints and maintenance of above and below ground gas systems.

  • Responds to questions from customers and provides answers directly or by referral.

  • Provide assistance with all distribution activities involved with the installation, repair and maintenance of the distribution system to include:

  • Operating basic equipment and tools

  • Traffic control

  • Landscaping and general maintenance

  • Digging, shoring, repairing leaks, testing and wrapping pipes

  • Pressure recording devices

  • Uses a variety of tools (hand, air, shovels, etc.) while performing distribution crew activities.

  • Ensures truck is stocked with equipment, supplies, tools and other equipment in neat and orderly condition.

  • Operates Automated Dispatch system to complete meter reads and turn-offs service at customer's premise.

  • Identifies abnormal operating conditions and takes appropriate actions.

  • Performs simple sniff tests to detect gas leaks.

  • Performs other job-related duties as required.

Education, Certificate/Licenses:

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Mechanical aptitude

  • Basic knowledge and use of hand tools and equipment

  • Ability to pass basic skills and knowledge assessments

  • Valid Driver's License

Preferred:

  • Field operations experience to include distribution crew work

JOB SUMMARY

This engineer will be responsible for engineering related activities at a power generating plant. This position is responsible for providing plant technical support and developing long term plans and budgets to maintain and improve equipment performance. Power Generation Engineers manage capital and O&M projects, follow prescribed procedures, and conduct analyses to develop design options or recommendations for structures, systems and components. This position is accountable for providing technical direction and troubleshooting for plant electrical and mechanical systems. The incumbent will be responsible for providing ongoing inspection and evaluation of equipment and for determining the appropriate direction on design and performance improvements, upgrades, and other modifications. This individual will be a troubleshooting resource for operations and maintenance.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide outage/project management, project budget management, long term maintenance strategies and technical support to the plant

  • Develop 5 & 10 year capital budgets and justification for associated capital projects

  • Provide monthly accruals and budget variance explanations to the Financial Specialist

  • Monitor plant performance and make recommendations to improve heat rate and unit reliability

  • Utilize computer business tools to develop and justify budgets, write work orders, order material, develop project schedules, and monitor equipment

  • Initiate, troubleshoot and review root cause analyses for system equipment failures

  • Work with Southern Company Services, OEMs and system owners at other plants to stay current of any upgrades or concerns that affect the plant and communicate these needs to plant management, corporate management, and peer groups

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • B.S. in Engineering from an ABET accredited program/institution is required

  • B.S. in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering preferred, but willing to consider other engineering disciplines

  • M.S. in Business or Engineering a plus

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license would also be a plus

Experience

  • Experience in an industrial facility with mechanical/electrical project or design focus involving the maintenance of the following types of equipment: pumps/motors, air/motor operated valves, fans, condensers, boilers, turbines, PLC's, distributed control systems, and industrial electrical switchgear, circuit breakers and transformers

  • Demonstrated project management experience required

  • Strong technical expertise and problem-solving abilities required

Job Summary: The Engineering Team Leader will be responsible for providing leadership, direction, and performance management for distribution activities to direct reports within the Cornelia & Clayton Operating HQ's. They will also manage an engineering area. They will provide safety leadership, budget management, construction scheduling, and compliance measures where needed and contribute to reliability and capital improvement strategy in the Distribution Area. The successful candidate will also be a technical expert, leading engineering on large scale, high impact projects in the area while demonstrating world class customer service. In addition, they will be expected to participate in and lead region wide initiatives, projects, and committees, as well as to be an active participant with the statewide Engineering Supervisor team and other out of town meetings. This role will participate in the on-call rotation and may lead region storm teams to on system and off system storm events.

Education Requirements

  • Engineering degree is a plus.

  • Professional Engineering license a plus.

  • MBA or Master's degree is a plus.

Experience

  • Leads in Safety Excellence and knowledge of Section "0"

  • Five years of Distribution engineering experience in a power utility company is preferred

  • Five years of Power Delivery engineering experience in a power utility company is preferred

  • Must have proven Time Management experience involving multiple projects and customer requests.

  • Experience in SERP restoration efforts required

  • Storm team leadership experience preferred

  • Experience with engineering design, construction and maintenance, compliance, managing manpower, reviewing job estimates, and asset management in a power utility company

  • Experience with IBEW covered personnel, system design experience, and serving on committees at a statewide level is preferred.

  • Previous experience designing and presenting large and complex projects in a power utility company to higher level management for approval is preferred.

Job Summary: The Engineering Team Leader will be responsible for providing leadership, direction, and performance management for distribution activities to direct reports within the Cornelia & Clayton Operating HQ's. They will also manage an engineering area. They will provide safety leadership, budget management, construction scheduling, and compliance measures where needed and contribute to reliability and capital improvement strategy in the Distribution Area. Distribution Lineman - Coast Division

This position will be covered by the Memorandum of Agreement between Mississippi Power and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers

Job Summary

This position will be filled as a Journeyman Lineman. This position is responsible for working in a line crew on overhead and underground construction and maintenance of distribution systems. This position is responsible for responding to and correcting problems with the electrical distribution system during normal working hours, after hours, nights, weekends and holidays.

Job Responsibilities

Candidate must safely perform any work normally or reasonably required in this classification. This position builds, maintains, inspects, trouble-shoots, replaces, and repairs distribution power lines, poles, and related equipment according to Company specifications and manufacturer's recommendations. Successful candidate will review work orders and determine material needed to complete jobs; along with being able to safely load wire coils, poles, equipment, and materials onto trucks. Candidate is responsible for using hand tools to assemble materials, connectors, brackets, and other equipment in preparation for installation on pole-lines or underground systems. This position frequently works aerially from a ladder, lift bucket, and pole-climbing tools to remove/replace/repair equipment. Successful candidate must climb utility poles and other structures. This position is responsible for cleaning and maintaining tools/trucks. Successful candidate must maintain regular attendance and comply with all safety procedures, practices and requirements. Candidate must be able to effectively communicate in person, by radio, and by phone to various company personnel in the normal course of duties. If this position is filled as an apprentice, the applicant will complete a prescribed Journeyman Development Program.

Job Requirements

Must pass or have passed the Construction and Skills Trade Test (CAST) in order to be considered

Must currently have or possess the ability to obtain a valid Mississippi Commercial Drivers license within 6 months of employment

Must maintain weight to comply with equipment manufacturer's restrictions

Must be available for call out overtime work, scheduled overtime work, and overnight travel as needed

Availability for timely response to call outs are required
