Product Line Marketing Manager

In this challenging, but very rewarding role, you will be able to define the next phase of VMware's growth by building upon the massive market presence of VMware vSphere and utilizing the success of VMware Cloud Foundation to deliver the next generation of multi-cloud services, making hybrid cloud the default operating model.

  • The Product Line Marketing Manager will play a critical role in successfully driving VMware Cloud Foundation into the market through direct, OEM and partner routes to market.

  • Understanding the current market environment and developing go-to-market strategies to drive customer awareness and promote the solution value to partners and OEMs.

  • This role will be responsible for executing on the go-to-market strategy, developing core messaging to drive product interest through partner channels, and influencing across the alliance, partner, PM, corporate marketing and channel teams to achieve common goals.

  • Deliver focused product messaging, positioning, and launches to drive adoption of VMware Cloud solutions through partner and OEM channels.

  • Work closely with partner teams to develop messaging for VMware Cloud Foundation within consumption based models from OEMs, ensuring that the solutions are positioned effectively from a technical and business standpoint.

This product marketing leader will be part of a cross-functional team that operates in a leadership environment that focuses on empowerment, collaboration, and communication as the cornerstones for success. The location of this role is flexible within the United States, where work will be done from an office some days during a week and other days from a non-VMware building.

Specific responsibilities are as follows:

  • Define product positioning and messaging for customer facing solutions that communicates a differentiated story for VMware products, capabilities and services in the market

  • Develop core marketing content-from presentations to published articles-that tell a compelling, consistent story based on core messaging and positioning.

  • Collaborate with partner alliance teams, sales leadership, business leaders and technology partners on joint messaging and sales motions across all global theatres.

  • Evangelize product messaging to customers, sales teams, channel partners and technology partners to amplify our story

  • Launch new products and solutions to market by developing and leading a successful launch plan across functional teams, including product management, engineering, corporate marketing and support

  • Acquire sufficient technical understanding of products, technologies and industry to translate product details into clear business benefits with measurable metrics to track progress

  • Develop thought leadership messaging targeted at OEM partners, industry influencers and CxO level customer audiences delivered through contributed articles, white papers, blogs and social media.

Job requirements are as follows:

  • 5+ years experience in product marketing or alliance marketing at a leading enterprise infrastructure, software or cloud technology firm. Enterprise IT or similar data center experience preferred.

  • Domain experience in software defined infrastructure, cloud native applications, hyperconverged infrastructure or enterprise IT with a background in the hybrid cloud space.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to create compelling product messaging and translate technology features into business benefits.

  • Demonstrated aptitude for quickly coming up to speed on new technology concepts and leveraging them to develop innovative solutions.

  • Experience in developing joint messaging on private, hybrid and multi-cloud solutions

  • Willingness to travel as required

  • BA/BS in Computer Science or similar technical degree a plus. MBA preferred.

  • Serve as finance lead for the Commercial Channels and Partner Ecosystem.

  • Demonstrate sound understanding of the Company's technology offerings, customer value proposition of these offerings, as well as competitive differentiation.

  • Define, drive, and implement the organizations financial framework that drives accountability and maximizes performance.

  • Demonstrate the ability to understand and navigate through key VMware structure and stakeholders to drive value and process improvement.

  • Lead developing and delivering value-added analysis and financial guidance to the Commercial and Partner Ecosystem organizations supporting strategic initiatives through topline scenario modeling, investment prioritization, ROI analysis and incentive options.

  • Develop financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives.

  • Participate in operations reviews to ensure both short-term and long-term business plans are achieved.

  • Make sound recommendations for improving performance and creating an environment of strong business controls.

  • Responsible for bi-annual quota setting and the communication of compensation plan.
