The experience you'll bring.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering

  • 3+ years' work experience working as a data and application engineer.

  • 2+ years' experience with Analytics and Operational Data Warehousing deployments on Snowflake/Azure. Experience with PostgreSQL/PostGIS, Oracle, Hadoop, HANA and Teradata a plus

  • 2+ years of hands on experience with I tools such as Power BI, MicroStrategy, Qlik or Tableau.

  • Experience with SQL, T-SQL, Visual Studio/SSIS, or at least one object-oriented programming language (C#, C++, Java, etc.).

  • Thorough understanding of BI Application development, data governance, and change management

  • Familiarity with SOX regulation a plus (e.g. change management, evidence, and development of SOX compliant database assets).

Job Description

The Director, Federal Regulatory Affairs assists the Managing Director of Federal Regulatory Affairs in overseeing the legal work of T-Mobile's Federal Regulatory Government Affairs attorneys and in representing T-Mobile interests before the Federal Communications Commission and the Federal Trade Commission. The Director, Federal Regulatory coordinates the complex legal and policy work of the federal regulatory group to develop effective and reasoned positions that promote the interests of T-Mobile before government. The position also calls for an expert legal advocate in the areas of privacy, data security, and identity theft/fraud with key contacts in Washington, D.C. to enable key business strategies for T-Mobile. The Director, Federal Regulatory ensures that T-Mobile's viewpoint is effectively communicated to key policy makers in Washington, D.C. The position is located in T-Mobile's Washington, D.C. office.

What you'll do in your role.

  • Direct the regulatory legal work at the federal level, including the development of complex filings and legal analysis that support T-Mobile's positions before the FCC, FTC, and Congress

  • Assist in the management of federal regulatory attorneys, and the review and development of their work product, including complex filings before the FCC, FTC, and other legal and policy work

  • Promote the development and maintenance of constructive working relationships with regulators, elected officials, consumer groups and industry representatives

  • Promote public and industry awareness of proposed regulations that could diminish product availability, delay new technology or increase the cost of service

  • Develop the preparation and presentation of issues before the FCC and FTC. Provide federal officials with relevant information and supporting documentation for Company positions.

  • Maintain current knowledge of potential or pending regulatory or legislative developments in all jurisdictions.

  • Supervise the development of testimony and responses to regulatory inquiries, compliance issues, and the presentation/representation of the Company's position

  • Evaluate regulatory risk of company initiatives and prioritizes required actions.

  • Promote T-Mobile interests during FCC and FTC reviews of wireless industry topics such as privacy, data security, and identity theft/fraud etc.

  • Provide support for the interpretation of FCC and FTC regulations and the implications and impact of various federal regulatory initiatives on state jurisdictions.

  • Coordinate closely with T-Mobile federal legislative team and state legislative and regulatory teams on matters that intersect with issues before the FCC and FTC. Helps develop strategy and tactics for Congressional and state initiatives on such issues.

  • Establish constructive dialogue and working relationships with T-Mobile personnel in other departments. Elicit the cooperation of various departments to generate information needed to present and support Company positions on regulatory issues. Collaborate with department heads to secure the resources necessary to advance the Company's interests.

The experience you'll bring.

  • 7-10 Years: Legal Experience In The Federal Regulatory Field For The Telecommunications Industry.

  • 7-10 Years: Substantial Experience With The FCC/FTC's privacy, data security, and identity theft/fraud polices and regulations.
