This Opportunity
WSP is seeking a full-time Assistant Vice President, Electrical Engineer for their Los Angeles, Irvine or Riverside, California office. This opportunity involves being part of our deeply experienced Property & Buildings Team in Southern California . You can also sit in our Northern California locations in San Francisco, San Diego, San Jose or Sacramento .
Provides subject matter technical support and leadership for multi-site/phase due diligence, investigation, remediation, impact assessment, permitting, improvement, design, development, and construction of utility, industrial, and commercial scale projects in the public and private sector. Tasks include the research, design, concept development, planning, and construction of transmission and distribution substations, power distribution, power regulation, renewable energy, as well as protection and control systems in a wide variety of contexts (utilities, transportation, building, and Federal, State, and local government projects). Provides situational guidance to PMs and managers that address current and future challenges, and that documentation and recommendations accurately account for and address risk, innovation, and future-ready opportunities. Provides leadership with ensuring that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.
Your Impact
Provide oversight with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, , substation components, equipment specifications for procurement package development and pricing, IFR/IRC detailed design and review processes, and IEEE, NESC, ANSI, NCEC, and NERC standards and regulations for design work.
Coordinate, review and approve electrical infrastructure design plans for mid-level and complex projects, ensuring data integrity and work is compliant with all applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations.
Apply high-level electrical engineering techniques and processes to identify improvements for various infrastructure project phases involving more complex infrastructure engineering work including concept development, preliminary design, final design, procurement, construction, and operation.
Perform professional electrical engineering work and conduct more complex/comprehensive investigations and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, resources, facilities, substation layout and bus arrangement, grounding grid design and lightning protection, and power plants to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits.
Develop construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates; preparing construction safety and phasing plans, and updating infrastructure layout plans that require coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients.
Involved from project inception to completion in the management of design and construction of infrastructure projects, including rehabilitation and reconstruction, grading, drainage, pavement design, specifications, building materials, phasing, and construction safety plans.
Oversees the development and implementation of future-ready technologies, monitoring devices, building materials, cabling, conduit and trenching design strategies, electrical design requirements, and operating strategies to account for the safety and functionality or end-users, systems, and infrastructure.
Actively oversee from project inception to completion, the management of design and construction of electrical infrastructure projects, including rehabilitation and reconstruction, site development, grading, drainage, equipment layout, elevations, specifications, building materials, phasing, and construction safety plans.
Lead larger-scale electrical engineering projects ensuring contributors know what they are required to do and by when, preparing and overseeing relevant project budgets, monitoring external events, tracking hours and expenses, ensuring satisfactory performance, and supervising subcontractors, contract work, and employees.
Assist with engineering review of permit applications, engineering design plans and specifications, standby plans and engineering contracts, and periodic construction inspections, to ensure that they comply with applicable state and/or federal regulations and sound engineering practice and standards.
Meet with various public or private entities or individuals to discuss issues relating to a variety of electrical/engineering/construction challenges and programs.
Ensure technical reports and presentations explain research, findings, and recommendations to prevent, control, restore, or address electrical, design, and/or construction issues or opportunities.
Maintain a high level of quality and responsiveness to client requirements in alignment with Pickett's standards.
Develop a client base for providing high level electrical engineering services including identifying additional business development opportunities.
Mentor staff to support their growth and professional development.
Remain current in latest electrical engineering techniques and practices.
Collaborates with professionals from a variety of disciplines, other engineers, planners, and infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded improvement and development projects, as well as proposal and business development opportunities.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
10+ years of relevant post education experience as an electrical engineer providing design deliverables for capital projects in power generation, transmission, and distribution at a utility, industrial, or commercial scale.
Engineer license required (multi-state preferred).
Prior experience working with local architectural clientele, contractors and/or Owners is required
Highly proficient with electrical engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.
Highly proficient with infrastructure design.
Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and program/construction management; including comprehensive experience in working with adjacent disciplines such as electrical engineering, P&C, SCADA, and telecom.
Strong knowledge of relevant engineering and electrical construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
Highly proficient with making technical computations and calculations involving the application of engineering principles, understanding plans and specifications, and making factual comparisons to the appropriate regulations.
Experience with planning and conducting inspections and investigations on various aspects of the construction and design of facilities or structures, applying applicable regulations and policies
Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing intricate ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
Strong self-leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with clients, regulators, project managers, and employees at all levels of the organization.
Works independently to provide guidance and leadership to mid-level to senior level team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, discipline-specific design software (i.e., CADD, Aspen, CAPE, ETAP, WIN IGS, Inventor, AutoCADD electrical), technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
Experienced with providing critical review for documents and preparing technical deliverables and plans with a high degree of complexity.
Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, computations, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.
Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating and assertively directing subcontractors and others to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

WSP USA works closely with architects and owners from around the world on large, complex projects with a focus on sustainability and energy performance of the built environment.
Our Commissioning Engineers work on high quality, complex, high-profile projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for the execution of building commissioning processes. This opportunity provides technical assistance and guidance for activities to validate construction, integrity, operability, and the commissioning of building systems and facilities projects in the public and private sector. Tasks may include assisting with the planning, directing, coordinating, testing, and commissioning and retro commissioning of building systems including HVAC, steam, compressed air, chilled water, plumbing, and automation. Your Impact
Collect, compile, and analyze data from the physical work site during various construction phases, surveys, blueprints, schematics, data, technical drawings, flow diagrams, computer-generated reports, and other matrices for project energy auditing actions, validation, and commissioning.
Perform professional building and system commissioning work by conducting research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, resources, layout, usage, and systems to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, codes, and installation or operating permits.
Assist with developing configuration, testing specifications, and readiness plans; preparing and updating checklists/punch lists and cost estimates that require coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients.
Participate in incorporating advanced technology, modeling techniques, concept development, design requirements, load calculations, and operating strategies to account for the proper installation and functioning of equipment and systems according to specifications; implementing future-ready solutions with building systems operating standards.

Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, accurate reports, sketches, calculations, technical drawings, spreadsheets, and 2D/3D illustrations for the interpretation or presentation of data, findings, or analyses.

Assist with development and scoping of small- to medium-sized commissioning projects.
Contribute to the preparation of technical reports and presentations that explain research and findings to navigate, improve, prevent, control, restore, or address design and/or installation/operational issues or opportunities.
Conduct studies and testing to gain further information on a particular design and construction problem or issue and/or to plan for future needs.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Architectural Engineering/Construction-related field or equivalent years of related experience in industry.
3 to 5 years of relevant post education experience in discipline with prior building and systems commissioning experience.
Knowledge of building commissioning principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to project work-related issues.
Technical knowledge of HVAC and building systems to evaluate and test the performance of these systems.
Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, load calculations, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.

The Purple Line is a 16-mile light rail line that will extend from Bethesda in Montgomery County to New Carrollton in Prince George's County. We are seeking an Environmental & Social Impact Assessment Professional with a background in transportation and infrastructure as well as the energy/nuclear market. This professional will join our interdisciplinary team of professionals in our Midwest Region , focused on impact assessment for the social, natural, and physical environment to support a variety of clients and projects. This individual will be the NEPA Lead here in Indianapolis and support our local business lines in IN, OH, IL, and WI. This person will also support a dynamic team and work collaboratively within the region and with other planners, scientists, and engineers within WSP to successfully meet our clients' needs for environmental and social impact analysis and permitting with a wide range of clients in the energy industry.

Provides subject matter technical support and leadership for multi-site/phase due diligence, investigation, remediation, impact assessment, permitting, improvement, design, development, and construction of utility, industrial, and commercial scale projects in the public and private sector. Tasks include the research, design, concept development, planning, and construction of transmission and distribution substations, power distribution, power regulation, renewable energy, as well as protection and control systems in a wide variety of contexts (utilities, transportation, building, and Federal, State, and local government projects). Provide oversight with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, , substation components, equipment specifications for procurement package development and pricing, IFR/IRC detailed design and review processes, and IEEE, NESC, ANSI, NCEC, and NERC standards and regulations for design work.
Coordinate, review and approve electrical infrastructure design plans for mid-level and complex projects, ensuring data integrity and work is compliant with all applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations.
Apply high-level electrical engineering techniques and processes to identify improvements for various infrastructure project phases involving more complex infrastructure engineering work including concept development, preliminary design, final design, procurement, construction, and operation.
Perform professional electrical engineering work and conduct more complex/comprehensive investigations and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, resources, facilities, substation layout and bus arrangement, grounding grid design and lightning protection, and power plants to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits.
Develop construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates; preparing construction safety and phasing plans, and updating infrastructure layout plans that require coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients.
Involved from project inception to completion in the management of design and construction of infrastructure projects, including rehabilitation and reconstruction, grading, drainage, pavement design, specifications, building materials, phasing, and construction safety plans.
Oversees the development and implementation of future-ready technologies, monitoring devices, building materials, cabling, conduit and trenching design strategies, electrical design requirements, and operating strategies to account for the safety and functionality or end-users, systems, and infrastructure.
Actively oversee from project inception to completion, the management of design and construction of electrical infrastructure projects, including rehabilitation and reconstruction, site development, grading, drainage, equipment layout, elevations, specifications, building materials, phasing, and construction safety plans.
Lead larger-scale electrical engineering projects ensuring contributors know what they are required to do and by when, preparing and overseeing relevant project budgets, monitoring external events, tracking hours and expenses, ensuring satisfactory performance, and supervising subcontractors, contract work, and employees.
Assist with engineering review of permit applications, engineering design plans and specifications, standby plans and engineering contracts, and periodic construction inspections, to ensure that they comply with applicable state and/or federal regulations and sound engineering practice and standards.
Meet with various public or private entities or individuals to discuss issues relating to a variety of electrical/engineering/construction challenges and programs.
Ensure technical reports and presentations explain research, findings, and recommendations to prevent, control, restore, or address electrical, design, and/or construction issues or opportunities.
Maintain a high level of quality and responsiveness to client requirements in alignment with Pickett's standards.
Develop a client base for providing high level electrical engineering services including identifying additional business development opportunities.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
10+ years of relevant post education experience as an electrical engineer providing design deliverables for capital projects in power generation, transmission, and distribution at a utility, industrial, or commercial scale.
Engineer license required (multi-state preferred).
Prior experience working with local architectural clientele, contractors and/or Owners is required
Highly proficient with electrical engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.
Highly proficient with infrastructure design.
Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and program/construction management; including comprehensive experience in working with adjacent disciplines such as electrical engineering, P&C, SCADA, and telecom.

As an Associate Consultant, Geologist, selected applicants will take part in providing local geological and/or environmental engineering assistance for the design, permitting, development, and construction of infrastructure projects and systems in the public and private sector as well as investigation, due diligence, remediation, and impact assessment. WSP is initiating a search for a full-time Assistant Vice President, Transportation Planning Engineer to join our Chicago, IL office. We have an immediate opening for a motivated Transportation Planning Engineer with local transportation projects experience, with a focus on Preliminary Engineering Reports and Environmental Studies (Phase I). The ideal candidate will have project management experience, multi-modal transportation engineering experience, familiarity with and understanding of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process, and ability to navigate a fast-paced working environment. The Transportation Planning Engineer is expected to support key clients on a variety of transportation projects through the NEPA process. Provides support to technical staff, engineers, and project managers for remediation, permitting, improvement, and construction of infrastructure projects and systems in the public and private sector. Tasks may include basic assistance with the research, design, concept development, and construction of roads, buildings, rail, tunnels, dams, bridges, and water supply systems, and sewage systems. Generates accurate and concise reports and documentation regarding assigned material, quantities, and construction specifications. Your Impact

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline.

kW Mission Critical Engineering is currently initiating a search for a Fuel Oil Specialist for our kW office in New York, NY. We would also consider a candidate in one of many other kW MCE/WSP offices.
As a Fuel Oil Specialist, you will provide detailed technical assistance and guidance for multi-site/multi-phase due diligence, design, development, building, testing, and inspecting of plumbing systems on infrastructure, building, and construction projects in the public and private sector. Responsibilities include the research, design, concept development, planning, installation, operation, maintenance, and optimal integration of plumbing systems, #2 Diesel fuel storage and delivery systems, fire suppression and protection, and fluid flow equipment, systems, and processes. Substantiates reports, documentation, and decisions regarding installation, materials, construction, and operation specifications. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.
Your Impact
Provide guidance with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, schematics, data, technical drawings, computer-generated reports, and other matrices for project development, design, and construction.
Apply high-level plumbing engineering techniques and processes to identify improvements for various building and infrastructure project phases including concept development, preliminary design, final design, procurement, construction, and operation.
Perform professional plumbing engineering work and conduct research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, resources, building, infrastructure, and usage; and install plumbing, fire protection and suppression, and fluid flow systems to conform with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits.
Develop construction and installation plans, specifications, and cost estimates; preparing construction safety and phasing plans and updating infrastructure layout plans that require coordination with owners, architects, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients.
Involved from project inception to completion in the management of plumbing design and construction for building and infrastructure projects, including rehabilitation and reconstruction, new builds, operating specifications, building materials, and construction safety plans.
Develop and incorporate advanced technologies, monitoring devices, building materials, modeling techniques, design requirements, load calculations, and operating strategies to account for the proper installation and functioning of equipment and systems; implementing future-ready solutions with plumbing engineering design standards.
Oversee and monitor cross-functional teams of engineers, planners, and/or other scientific professionals to execute project work on mid-level and/or multiple concurrent projects, including budgets, tracking hours and expenses, task completion, cost and quantities of materials/equipment/labor, technical calculations, permit applications, schematics, construction, compliance documentation, and regulatory and technical analysis memos.
Coordinate, review and approve installation design plans, ensuring data integrity and work is compliant with all applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications

7 to 10 years of relevant post education experience in engineering discipline and prior plumbing and mechanical design experience.
Working knowledge of REVIT.

Extensive knowledge of building and infrastructure design.
Relevant operational and design knowledge of #2-Diesel storage and delivery systems.

Well-defined specific knowledge of relevant plumbing and mechanical engineering and construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.

Your Impact
Provide proactive and strategic process leadership for operations activities in support of planning, engineering, and construction projects in the rail industry, with a specific focus on intercity passenger rail (i.e., Corridor ID and Fed-State Partnership programs).

Drive compliance and accountability at all levels with applicable Federal, State, and Local laws, codes, policies, and regulatory requirements that apply to transit and rail operations, especially FRA and FTA.

Serve as a WSP representative/liaison to a variety of external entities including Federal, State, and Local Agencies, Clients, Subcontractors, industry-related groups, and various government and community entities.
Provide input and information for proposals and project work scopes, pricing, budget, and performance metrics.
Interpret and summarize data, including producing reports and documents for complex projects and initiatives that result in sound operational and regulatory outcomes for our clients.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in a planning, transportation, business, or other related discipline.
10+ years' experience in railroad operations, including operations planning, operations management, service development, and safety.
Solid background in FRA-regulated railroad operations, or a combination of education and/or relevant experience to meet the job requirements.
Solid background in strategic rail planning.
Proficiency in office productivity software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Excellent written and oral communications skills.

Required Qualifications
Licensed Professional Surveyor and Mapper (PSM) in the state of Florida
Bachelor's or Associates Degree in Surveying, GIS, or a related field (or equivalent experience.)
10+ years of relevant post-education experience in discipline with prior surveying experience in a corporate environment with easements, rights of way, plats, topographic surveys, boundary surveys, property descriptions, and GPS surveys.
High-level experience with both public and private sector work (e.g. state, city, county, utility districts, and private land development.)
Advanced proficiency with/of land survey principles, practices, process, methods and techniques.
Highly proficient expertise with relevant codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
Demonstrated technical competence leading and reviewing technical reports, survey mapping efforts, impact evaluations, siting reports, planning scopes, and environmental permit applications for assigned segments/project.
Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to mid-level to senior level team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
Experienced with providing critical review for documents and preparing technical deliverables and surveys with a high degree of complexity.

WSP is seeking a team-oriented and self-directed candidate to support our San Diego, CA Environmental Water Group . Recent experience supporting regulatory compliance programs in stormwater, the aquatic environment, and/or experience working in an environmental laboratory setting. Experience working as part of field teams, and being knowledgeable in the collection of field data, particularly related to stormwater and use of water quality collection instruments. Strong field, writing, and data QA/QC skills are required.
Experience and fluency using MS Excel, the ability to follow strict QA/QC procedures and strong attention to detail is required. Knowledge of statistical procedures, analytical chemistry, and project management skills are desired. Experience with ArcGIS and PowerBI is preferred.
Ideal candidate will have knowledge of National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) programs, the Clean Water Act Sections 401 and 404; the Porter-Cologne Act; Stormwater programs; Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Permits; and other applicable local, state, and federal regulations and guidance.
