WSP is currently initiating a search for an Environmental Remediation Project Manager for our Albuquerque, NM office. Scope of this role will be focused on areas such as remedial design, field investigations, contaminated site management, data analysis, and team oversight. This role will work closely with contaminated site portfolio leads and ensure the correct delivery of projects within the assigned business. Be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.
Your Impact
General
Manages/oversees projects under the client's Terms and Conditions which have been negotiated prior
Takes projects from original discovery through final remediation.
Oversees various moderately-complex projects without the oversight of a Senior Project Manager and minimal oversight from technical teams.
Responsible for assembling project/task teams and assigning individual responsibilities, identifying appropriate resources needed. Given the complexity of the project, these teams could be larger, multi-disciplinary, and may reside in various states.
Develops the project scope and objectives, as well as clarify the role and function of each team member in order to effectively coordinate the activities of the team.
Identifies, monitors, and mitigates risk on projects where the client may not have a full understanding of the project risks.
Exhibits role model behaviors related to HSSE, business needs, and team development.
Consultation
Manages the quality of the project, which can be complex.
Liaise regularly with project Portfolio Manager, technical teams, and internal accounting teams.
Keep Portfolio Manager regularly informed on status of project.
Proactively informs functional management of the status of the project.
Influences and affects change within the project team when required.
Integration
Takes lead in development of proposals in collaboration with others.
Plans the execution of the project and monitors performance according to the project execution plan and the contract terms and conditions.
Manages project closure aspects ensuring correct project documentation.
Ensures project team (including sub-consultants/contractors) have understood and continually reassess the HSSE requirements of the project.
Identifies and mitigates risks/hazards typical of moderate complexity projects.
Scope and Schedule
Develops and ensures adherence to the project schedule.
Supervises change request activities by appropriately addressing anticipated scope changes as they evolve and can advise others on scope change.
Updates the project schedule as needed.
Assesses and predicts the possible impacts of schedule changes and the time management outcomes for future project impacts.
Applies effective organizational and priority management skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze factors that influence the Project Critical Path and consider alternative scheduling linkages and dependencies.
Discusses and manages schedule changes with Portfolio Manager
Cost
Develops a multi-disciplinary project budget and interacts with subcontractors to develop the project budget.
Assigns project budgets to task leaders and manages their performance.
Ensures compliance with client invoicing requirements and timely payment.
Ensures that Day Sales Outstanding (DSO) targets on each project are met.
Responsible for regular progress reports for the client, the project team and other internal and external stakeholders.
Responsible for the submission of deliverables to the Client.
Identifies project risks and ongoing management of the risks appropriate for a moderately complex project
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or related discipline; PG or PE license preferred.
Minimum of 5-7 years of consulting and/or project management experience.
Demonstrated experience with project financial tracking, and change management related to scopes of work.
Expertise in project planning, numerical tracking and analysis (e.g., using MS Excel or similar programs).
Highly organized, adaptable, a developing leader, and calm under pressure.
Experience in managing multi-discipline teams.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a scientific and non-scientific audience.
Highly capable self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to junior team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
Proficiency with technical writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and tools.
Developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, and identify the most cost-effective responses that will minimize waste, prevent pollution, and conserve resources.

Your Impact
Participate in a wide range of engineering and mining projects; from conceptual water management planning to detailed design of water infrastructure and construction oversight.
Provide technical expertise related to hydrologic assessments, site-wide and tailings impoundment water balances, options assessments for water management infrastructure, hydraulic and streamflow evaluations, water diversions and control structures.
Provide dam classifications and dam safety reviews in collaboration with our geotechnical and construction teams.
Perform and/or provide oversight to dam breach assessments, hydraulic analysis, design and assessment of surface water diversions, hydraulic structures, water control structures, ponds, surface water outlets to rivers, and mine infrastructure.
Develop hydrologic design criteria (e.g. peak flows and volume for various frequencies of rainfall and snowmelt events).
Serve as a Qualified Professional in relevant jurisdictions for assessments, studies, designs, and recommendations where required for regulatory purposes.
Deliver complex water-related scopes of work, including technical reviews, coordination with other disciplines, and interaction with technical leads responsible for mine waste, engineering and stability, and environmental components.
Provide local leadership to an established mine water management team and interact and collaborate with other senior leaders in the business.
Lead and contribute to proposals and opportunity management, including frequent interaction with clients as the face of Golder.
Mentoring and leading junior staff and multi-disciplinary teams.
Develop and sustain positive business relationships by offering innovative solutions to clients through business development initiatives.
Oversee multi-disciplinary teams in the execution of civil engineering and environmental project in the mining industry.
Lead sediment transport and sediment management projects.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Degree in Civil Engineering or similar, with experience in water resources management and assessments related to hydrology, hydraulic structures, erosion protection, and design
Demonstrated familiarity with HEC-RAS, FLO-2D and FLO-3D, HEC-HMS, SEDCAD
Demonstrated experience in consulting to the mining industry

Your Impact
Collect, identify, and compile environmental data from samples of water, sludge, and other matrices for projects, investigations, and surveys.
Perform professional water resources engineering work and assist with conducting investigations, analysis, and inspections relating to water supply/quality/management, stormwater facilities, irrigation facilities, culverts, hydrology, open channel hydraulics, bridge hydraulics, floodplain modeling/mapping, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, canal development, river/stream/habitat restoration and fish passage, waste disposal, and pollution control and treatment activities to avert the contamination and degradation of water resources and determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits.
Ensure that the planning and management of available water supply is adequately leveraged, treated, improved upon and remains safe for various end uses - recreationally, commercially, and/or industrially.
Participate in developing advanced technologies, monitoring devices, modeling techniques, design requirements, and operating strategies to reduce the volume and toxicity of pollutants, account for the negative environmental impact of industrial facilities, power plants, and transportation vehicles/systems, and allow for greater use of water resources.
Work as an individual or as part of a cross-functional team to execute project work, assist with emission and mass balance calculations, permit applications, compliance documentation, and regulatory and technical analysis memos.

Required Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or related discipline; PG or PE license preferred.
Minimum of 5-7 years of consulting and/or project management experience.
Demonstrated experience with project financial tracking, and change management related to scopes of work.
Expertise in project planning, numerical tracking and analysis (e.g., using MS Excel or similar programs).
Highly organized, adaptable, a developing leader, and calm under pressure.
Experience in managing multi-discipline teams.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a scientific and non-scientific audience.

WSP is seeking an On-Call Storm Water Inspector/Technician to join our team in San Diego, CA. Our San Diego office, and Southwest Region as a whole, is a wide-spectrum workplace. Our clients span the military, municipalities, and commercial entities both local and international. Our projects solve real-world environmental and infrastructure problems. We are passionate about developing optimized, highly usable solutions and are looking for another innovator to join our team.
Working as part of our storm water team, the position requires performing stormwater inspections at various commercial, residential, industrial and construction sites and commuting to client offices to assist with entry of various inspections and water quality compliance documentation. Additionally, the position requires the candidate to be available at odd hours, especially during wet weather, to conduct inspections and storm water monitoring. Candidate must be able to provide outreach and education to the public (-responsible parties-) regarding structural treatment control best management practices (BMPs). Prefer experience in inspecting structural BMPs, and commercial and industrial sites for appropriate and effective stormwater best management practices. Familiarity with environmental and stormwater quality industry standards and proficiency in applying knowledge of stormwater regulations to various sites is preferred. Must display independent judgement as well as excellent communication and critical thinking skills.

Your Impact
Conduct BMP inspections at construction sites.
Knowledge of NPDES Construction General Permit (California 2009 CGP and 2022 CGP).
Identify BMP deficiencies at construction sites and communicate to project team regarding corrective actions.
Prepare inspection reports to communicate inspection findings.
Manage inspection schedules based on project needs and locations.
Assist with reviewing documentation for BMPs.

This Opportunity
Serve as key member of WSP's Regional Environmental Planning and Permitting Program, with focus on project delivery, client communications, and project staff management. Management and preparation of documentation compliant with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) for a variety of project scopes and clients. Specific tasks would include preparing and adhering to scopes, schedules, budgets, completing or overseeing all components of environmental documentation, and managing and mentoring junior staff. Will work collaboratively with Environmental Planning and Permitting leadership and technical staff throughout the Western US, including the Intermountain West, Pacific Northwest, and California. Proven experience with Federal agencies is a requirement; experience with the Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security (notably Federal Emergency Management Agency) is preferred.
Your Impact
Assist with scoping, strategic planning, and developing permitting execution strategy for clients on medium- to large-sized projects, encompassing development of proposals, including development of scope of work/technical approach, budget, and schedule.
Prepare and complete environmental survey reports, data entry, impact assessment, and permitting activities for assigned projects (e.g. Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act permitting, CEQA, NEPA, etc.).
Perform professional environmental planning work and conduct investigations, inspections, and environmental studies and surveys to gain further information on a particular environmental problem or issue, verify site characteristics, and/or to plan for future environmental needs.
Oversee and monitor cross-functional teams in executing project work, permitting strategy, environmental impact assessments, and regulatory compliance, including project budgets, tracking hours and expenses, and task completion.
Provide high level oversite for desk-based research and site work, including measurements, data interpretation, demographics, patterns and trends, and computer modeling.
Coordinate with clients, resource/regulatory agencies, and environmental and technical staff in a confident and professional manner.
Collaborate with professionals from a variety of disciplines to provide future ready solutions for clients.
Remain current in latest environmental planning subject matter, practices, regulations, and techniques.

Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Planning, Urban Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience.)

Demonstrated experience with NEPA and related federal acts, including Endangered Species Act, National Historic Preservation Act, Coastal Zone Management Act, etc.

Established experience coordinating with clients, regulatory permitting and resource agencies, and environmental technical staff required.
