This position is responsible for specific technical design aspects of an assigned project including investigation, evaluation and recommendation of design solutions. Assigned to handle specific technical design aspects of a project for which he/she is responsible including investigating, evaluating, and recommending the design solutions that best meet the client's needs. Performs assignments under direction with limited responsibility for design.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Collaborates with other lead professionals to ensure design and documentation are in accordance with project expectations

  • Leads drawing development, including detailing, coordinates with quality control, and projects deadlines with the Project architect and/or Project Manager.

  • Produces construction documents.

  • Asist with the evaluation of code compliance.

  • Attends coordination and construction meetings and prepares eld reports.

  • Construction Administration Experience: Site observation, assists answering RFI's, reviewing and processing submittals and prepares shop drawings.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture at an accredited university

  • 5+ years of architecture experience

  • Ability to prioritize and concurrently service multiple projects

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Effective problem solving and interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with all clients and employees

  • Interacts well with other disciplines and clients in a manner that builds productive relationships

  • Procient with Revit is a must

  • Desire to grow team professionals through education and mentoring

  • Ability to balance the needs of projects with corporate goals

Job Description

What We're Looking For

Responsible for the production and modification of design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans and specifications for assigned projects. This position works closely with the project manager to perform research, development, calculations, design and delivery. Applies engineering techniques, procedures and design criteria for projects ranging in size and complexity. Leverages technical knowledge, experience and client relationships to assist in the execution and evaluation of project designs. Develops conceptual and detailed designs and calculations to support the project execution using current drawing and technical tools, programs and software. May mentor, train and review work of junior engineer staff and provide constructive feedback. As a member of the team, you will contribute to the successful project delivery for a diverse range of projects for HNTB's clients.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Design of highway facilities

  • Development of plans, specifications and other contract documents for transportation projects

  • Development of junior staff

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification

  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification or eligible to obtain

  • Knowledge of Bentley Software (Microstation, ORD) and Autodesk

  • 5 years relevant experience in design and development of highway plans for ODOT

  • Offices in Cleveland, Cincinnati and Columbus. Candidate can work from any location.
