What We're Looking For
HNTB is a leading employee owned infrastructure firm, and we are seeking a Construction Technician II for our growing construction services practice. This is a roadway and/or structures inspector position for NCDOT projects and is a great opportunity to help deliver our future transportation infrastructure.
Primary Focus Will Include:
Perform technical duties including inspections, material testing, field surveys, and safety.
Support construction, engineering, and inspection staff for NCDOT projects - specifically road, bridge, MSE walls, culverts, electrical/communication, traffic control, and other construction activities.
Build industry knowledge by through training to obtain and maintain inspector qualifications and proficiencies.
Conduct daily inspections for compliance with plans, standards, and specifications.
Document daily logs utilizing construction software.
Work closely with the resident engineer and other construction staff in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
Associates degree in civil, surveying, or construction management
Similar experience in construction management, surveying or inspection
What You'll Need
Essential Responsibilities:
Observes, documents, and verifies work in progress by the construction contractor to ensure compliance with contract documents and plans. Confirms procedures are followed and material used conforms to specifications.
Utilizes engineering inspection practices to perform rudimentary mathematical calculations and measurements of completed work to date.
Maintains Inspector's daily report of assigned work activities, contactor labor and equipment, quantity of material received and verified.
Assists in on-site material testing and produces as-constructed sketches as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
1 year construction experience.
All required jurisdictional certificates and state requirements.

What We're Looking For
It is an exciting time to join HNTB's aviation planning practice! We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with excellent analytical and communication skills and a passion for aviation to help deliver our large portfolio of aviation planning projects at the nation's largest and most exciting airports. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in aviation and have experience in one or more of the following aviation planning disciplines: landside, terminal, airside, economics, or environmental. The position will be located in one of our primary aviation planning offices in Oakland, CA; Minneapolis, MN; Arlington, VA; Boston, MA; or Portland, ME.
Primary Focus Will Include:
Conducts field surveys, investigations, and collects data in support of airport planning studies.
Produces exhibits and presentations.
Conducts independent and group research as needed.
Performs capacity analyses for airport facilities.
Prepares a wide array of AutoCAD and ArcGIS drawings.
Develops narrative reports for airport planning studies.
Programs, calibrates, and runs simulation models.
Highly responsive to client requests.
Assists with the preparation of stakeholder and public presentations,
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Aviation Management, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field and 2-3 years of experience.
Passionate about the aviation industry.
Strong understanding of the aviation industry.
Excellent graphic and analysis skills.

What You'll Need
Essential Responsibilities:
Research data sources, gathers data, and conducts analysis of data for use in projects.
Identifies planning and analysis strategies using tools such as GIS, traffic, or safety software to manipulate data, assess scenarios and perform project analysis.
Investigates and evaluates the planning processes and technical solutions that best meet the project needs.
Coordinates internally and externally with project team members, including other discipline areas involved with the project.
Prepares maps, exhibits, and presentation materials for projects.
Conducts research on issues, policies, and concepts pertaining to planning.
Assists in the development of conceptual planning alternatives for urban and transportation planning projects.
Drafts sections of and performs tasks related to the preparation and production of plans, studies, reports, and environmental documents for transportation and infrastructure projects.
May participate in public process and stakeholder facilitation.
Performs other duties as assigned.
