    Mount Ascension Middle School and High School Career Resource Assistant

    This position serves as a Career Resource Assistant for Mount Ascension Middle School and High School in the Helena public school system.

    This position is responsible for providing assistance with charter school operations for all enrolled students and specifically provides collaboration/activities to meet the need of those enrolled. Consult with teachers, staff and parents to enhance their effectiveness in helping students; and provide support to other educational programs

    Some of what you will do:

  • Assist with registration and course selection with students, parents, and teachers.

  • Research colleges, technical and vocational schools for educational information, entrance information, scholarships, grants and student loan information.

  • Schedule college, technical and vocational school visits for students.

  • Assist counselors with groups or individual students through the development of educational and career plans.

  • Assist with data reporting and clerical work.

  • Consult with teachers, staff and parents regarding meeting the academic/developmental needs of students.

  • Proctors' exams as needed

    Qualifications include:

    High school diploma or equivalent; experience or training in career development; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by the District.   • Assists in the maintenance and repair of the district grounds through the following activities, including but not limited to: planting, mowing, watering, weeding, snow removal, trash collection, sign installation/replacement and a variety of other related tasks.

  • Operates vehicles, equipment, and a variety of hand and small power tools as required to support grounds operations.

  • Performs cleaning/maintenance of district facilities.

Review transportation needs of homeless students in collaboration with homeless liaison(s). Responsible for the development, implementation and oversight of the student transportation safety and code of conduct programs, including but not limited to annual updates to the student and parent handbooks. Responsible for development and implementation of school district training provided to bus contractor employees and drivers (10 hours per year) Responsible for assessing road conditions, weather conditions or similar hazards that may impact the safe transportation of students. Provide the superintendent and administration with recommendations that may modify or prohibit normal transportation services. Develop and maintain good working relationships with city, county and state road departments, law enforcement and similar agencies. Responsible for notifications and public service announcements for students, parents, staff and community when transportation services are delayed, modified, cancelled or similarly impacted.
