Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

Medical Laboratory Scientists (sometimes referred to as clinical laboratory scientists, or medical technologists) are responsible for performing all aspects of testing on patient samples in an attempt to detect the absence or presence of a number of diseases. These medical professionals may examine a host of different types of samples, including various body fluids, feces, cells and tissues. Upon conclusion of the testing, the Medical Laboratory Scientist will report back to the ordering physician and consult with him or her about the results.

Essential Job Functions

- Performs routine and complex laboratory procedures; interprets and analyzes results.

- Identifies and corrects problems within the scope of training and education.

- Operates, maintains, troubleshoots, and validates lab equipment.

- Performs, records, and evaluates Quality Control.

- Assists Lead, Supervisor, or Manager with inventory, schedules, and safety.

- Conducts competency assessments.

- May be responsible for developing and evaluating new methods of testing, depending on their experience and position.

Day shift at Southside Regional Medical Center

Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist performs phlebotomy and specimen collection. They use Lab Information System (LIS) and Hospital Information System (HIS) to conduct functions related to phlebotomy, patient registration, order entry, result look-up and report generation. They process specimens for diagnostic testing and referral testing and sort specimen drop-offs according to insurance. They ensure accurate registration of specimens as needed.

Essential Job Functions

- Performs specimen collection procedures

- Processes and sends out specimen and body fluids

- Enters orders

- Performs accessioning, centrifuging, and aliquoting of samples

- Generates reports

- Registers patients

- Provides basic customer service

- Maintains inventory levels and stocks supplies

- When staffed in Microbiology department, culture setup of microbiology samples and gram stain preparation. Performs the MST (Micro Setup Time) as needed.

- Phlebotomist duties may be needed.

The Respiratory Care Practitioner is responsible for providing respiratory care through patient assessment, planning, intervention, education, and evaluation.   • Provides patient education on cardiopulmonary diseases/disorders and associated treatment options. Instructs patient and patient's caregiver(s) in incentive spirometer, metered dose inhaler (MDI) administration, oxygen therapy, home aerosol therapy, or ventilator care, if applicable.

  • Sets up and maintains respiratory therapy equipment and supplies.

  • May serve as a preceptor to new team members and/or students.

  • Responds to cardio-pulmonary resuscitations and actively participates as indicated by clinical circumstances.

Job Summary:

The Certified Surgical Technologist facilitates the operative or other invasive procedure by preparing and providing the required sterile instruments, supplies and equipment alongside the surgical team.

Essential Functions:

Job Summary:

The Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) position is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients by:

  • Utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status

  • Determining the priority of the patient's problems and needs

  • Implementing clinical nursing interventions to acute, critical patients that require intensive medical care

  • Developing and performing patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes

  • Ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment

  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team

  • Observes the surgery and surgical team from a broad perspective and assists the team to create and maintain a safe and comfortable environment for the patient

Job Summary:

The Certified Surgical Technologist facilitates the operative or other invasive procedure by preparing and providing the required sterile instruments, supplies and equipment alongside the surgical team.

The Medical Assistant Certified is a multi-skilled clinical professional that provides indirect and/or direct patient care within the scope of practice and in alignment with the standards of excellence and quality. Under the direction of the provider, the Medical Assistant contributes to the completion of the patient's chief complaint (including, but not limited, to respirations, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, height, weight, and temperature), documents patient/family needs, participates in planning and implementing care for patients, and administers ordered medications (oral, injection, topically, etc.) within the Medical Assisting scope and state guidelines.

Essential Job Functions

- Understands and adheres to the legal responsibilities and requirements within the Medical Assistant role.

- Identifies significant changes in patient condition through data collection and reports them to the provider.

- Troubleshoots issues and escalate problems to provider, direct supervisor, or appropriate internal resource.

- Demonstrates standards of excellence in care in all interactions, for both internal and external customers.

- Maintains clinical and administrative skills per the departmental competency guidelines to meet patient care and daily operational needs.

- Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.

- Travels to other facilities for providers or adjusts hours to meet patient care needs as directed by the practice manager as needed.

- Maintains a safe and supportive environment by keeping the work area, exam rooms, and equipment in clean, orderly, and safe manner, ensuring availability and proper functioning of supplies and equipment.

- Assists patient and provider with virtual health visits which may include setting up the visit through appropriate platform, pre-charting the virtual visit prior to the scheduled appointment, contacting the patient to ensure preparedness for the virtual visit, troubleshooting virtual visit issues when needed, obtaining chief complaint and health maintenance checks, medication review, and other relevant patient details prior to the actual virtual visit.

- Documents in electronic medical records (EMR) accurately and appropriately.

- Manages in basket messages in the electronic health record (EHR) under the Provider's verbatim instructions.

- May perform front desk workflows (i.e., My Chart requests, patient registration, scheduling, phone triage, cash handling, and check-in/check-out).

- Follows up on orders, appointments, referrals, and follow up visits and collects co-pays as needed.

- Other duties include, but not limited to, ordering supplies appropriately, tracking referrals, labs and diagnostic tests, disposing of contaminated supplies, etc.

Job Summary:

A Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides basic health care and support to patients under the guidance of the Registered Nurse or designated healthcare professional. Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

Reports to the Business Operations Manager and is responsible for front office functions for the OP Rehab locations. Tasks include all patient greetings, check in/out, POS collections Initial and follow up scheduling, and customer service. Responsible for scheduling a wide variety of Rehab patients in a computer-based scheduling system. Responsible for patient charge reconciliation, managing payer restriction tracking including visits, allowed procedures and/or financial limits ensuring accuracy for continued revenue stream. Performs clerical support for the therapy department, including organization and sanitation of the waiting room and front office patient facing space.

Essential Job Functions

  • Incorporates all factors to accurately enact scheduling of rehab services, utilizing EMR/Epic

  • Monitors departments WQ and contacts all referred patients within 24-48hrs of entry within the WQ. Able to provide cross market WQ support for other Rehab departments

  • Checks Rehab schedule daily to ensure all charges are accounted for per patient /department

  • Responsible for obtaining authenticated Physician order, verifying demographics, insurance information with eligibility and medical necessity for Physical therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy

  • Possesses strong communication skills (telephone and in-person) Functions as center of communication for the therapy department. Responds to patient messages within 24hrs

  • Ensure the patient charges are complete and accurate by verifying through charge reconciliation process through EMR/Epic

  • Maintains departments schedule for all therapist and ensures accuracy and accountability for cancelations

  • Possesses strong customer service skills and is able to remain calm in a hectic and stressful environment.

  • Responsible for collecting all POS and maintaining a cash drawer

  • Manages and tracks all payer restriction including visit, financial limitation or allowed procedures and compliance

  • Maintains front office and waiting room organization and cleanlines

Required Minimum Education

  • High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Education:

  • 2 Year/ Associates Degree
