Job Description

AECOM is seeking an Engineering Intern to be based in Cleveland, OH.

This position is expected to begin in January 2025.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands-on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional.

  • Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within their field of study.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and must have completed at least one year of study. Candidates who have recently graduated with a Bachelor's degree and plan to continue with the Master's degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor's degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Open Roads Designer a plus

Job Description

The Water Business Line of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Client Services Manager - Water/Wastewater with a focus in water/wastewater infrastructure in our Jacksonville, FL office. This role within AECOM offers an exciting opportunity to focus on a mix of client business growth, project delivery leadership and mentoring of developing engineering staff by leveraging top notch regional and national water/wastewater engineering expertise and capabilities to expand AECOM's Jacksonville area business. The appropriately qualified applicant will be a seller/doer and will have the opportunity to manage and work with an established team of professional engineers on a variety of water, wastewater, and storm water design projects.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with senior members of our Water Business Line team to seek new municipal business opportunities.

  • Lead client related activities.

  • Participate in local community and industry related events.

  • Provide leadership and mentoring to local staff.

  • Communicate project tasks between offices - high level of coordination and communication skills required.

  • Makes presentations to clients and internally to staff.

  • Coordination with clients, sub-consultants, regulatory agencies, and members of the public will be necessary to accomplish assigned objectives.

  • Responsible for both the technical practice and operational management of one large or multiple small to medium sized offices/operating units with moderate complexity.

  • Determines and executes the strategic direction of the office(s) to ensure financial profitability.

  • Works in conjunction with the district and/or regional management to ensure financial success of the offices within the district or operating unit.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree plus 10 years of related experience, with progressive experience in municipal water/wastewater infrastructure engineering design and construction or demonstrated equivalent.

  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience managing a diverse team and multiple deadlines.

  • Demonstrated business development skills and expertise.

  • Demonstrated client management and project management experience including delivering projects successfully, on time and on budget.

  • Experience with leading/conducting business development activities, pursuing new clients/projects, and serving as project manager on project deliveries.

  • As a condition of employment, must pass AECOM's motor vehicle records review.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in engineering.

  • 20 years of related experience, with progressive experience as PE/PM in municipal water/wastewater infrastructure engineering design and construction.

  • Experience working in the Jacksonville, FL geographic area for the water/wastewater/stormwater industry is highly preferred.

  • Experience in managing and/or delivering projects by alternative delivery.

AECOM is currently seeking Engineering Geologist candidates to support Geo-Civil projects from our Orange, California office .

Responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Perform geologic field reconnaissance and mapping for the identification of geologic hazards and site characterization;

  • Provide support on the design and installation of ground water wells and geotechnical instrumentation (VWP's, inclinometers, transducers, etc.);

  • Provide interpretation of site conditions including: geologic, geochemical, and geophysical data and preparing geotechnical and geologic reports;

  • Developing geologic models for complex geologic site conditions;

  • Conducting geologic research, and developing innovative ways to advance projects with the latest technologies;

  • Performing liaison activities with regulatory agencies (local, state, and federal agencies) on behalf of our clients;

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS + 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalence of experience and/or education.

  • 5+ years of relevant experience

  • Experience with complex subsurface investigations including soil and rock core drilling

The Water Business Line of AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented Senior Wastewater Process Engineer for our Orlando office, or this person can be based in any of our Florida offices. The ideal candidate will have experience with the design of municipal wastewater treatment plant, conveyance and pumping system projects.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serves as lead engineer on municipal wastewater infrastructure projects including advanced wastewater treatment and reuse.

  • Leading the preparation of plans, specifications, cost estimates, technical reports, and other project documents.

  • Collaborate with firm's water reuse and wastewater technical and practice leads to bring AECOM's national and global expertise to serve FL area clients.

  • Identifies new business opportunities for AECOM, coordinates and participates in project presentations to clients and other external groups, and promotes AECOM's capabilities, marketing its services among existing and prospective clients.

  • Coordinates and participates in contract negotiations with clients and subcontractors and drafts complex professional service agreements and addenda for review by senior management.

  • May supervise technical professionals, associate project managers, and design staff including workload and staffing management.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

This position is for an individual with experience in traffic analysis and VISSIM modeling that can provide technical leadership and independent delivery of small to large projects.

Our team works with local and national clients to provide solutions to their transportation needs across all modes of travel. Typical projects and daily tasks are focused on traffic engineering related services such as traffic projections, traffic impact studies, traffic analysis and simulation, traffic safety analysis/studies, conceptual planning and design, and other transportation related studies.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Leads the execution of smaller standalone traffic engineering projects, or traffic engineering tasks as part of larger projects.

  • Provides day-to-day direct mentoring and guidance to junior engineers in the execution of their tasks.

  • Lead strategic xBL pursuits in partnership with other BL's.

Regional Transportation Market Leadership:

  • Prepare deliverables and products such as presentation materials, calculations, design drawings, specifications, cost estimates related to fire protection engineering.

  • Creation of fire detection and emergency signaling system design and layout plans, schematics, equipment specifications, supporting design calculations, system narratives, and construction specifications.

  • Creation of fire suppression system design criteria, specifications and layouts, preliminary hydraulic calculations, fire pump selection specifications, and fire detection system integration.

  • Creation of special hazard fire protection designs, including but not limited to aspirating and beam-type smoke detection, video imaging detection, flame detection, suppression system monitoring and control and smoke control system integration.

  • Creation of integration designs between life safety and building services systems as required to comply with all applicable codes, standards and system operating objectives, including but not limited to information technology, telephone, security, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in fire protection engineering with at least 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • As a condition of employment, candidates must pass a drug screening.

  • Valid US Driver's License, and as a condition of employment, pass AECOM's motor vehicle records review.

The Archaeologist is a core member of the Cultural Resources Practice with responsibility for successfully executing all aspects of project implementation. This position is expected to begin in January 2025.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for a variety of engineering tasks in the initial planning, design and modification phase of projects.

  • Performs construction site visits and inspections under the guidance of an experienced construction inspector.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Job Responsibilities:

  • The Senior Mechanical Engineer should be capable of working independently with limited supervision to complete both small and large projects and may serve as a Discipline Representative.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with internal and external clients is required.

  • Candidate must be well organized, be able to demonstrate critical thinking to quickly recognize issues and be part of the solution.

  • Have knowledge of the ASHRAE standards, NFPA and ICC codes.
