Maintenance Manager - Cedar Rapids, IA Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Manager will be familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. They will be responsible for directing the maintenance programs and processes of the Cedar Rapids Plant to ensure timely and effective production. This position will be expected to collaborate effectively with all team members within the plant as well as support resources from corporate teams and other plants. _OBJECTIVES:_ * Conducts all management duties concerning training, counseling, performance appraisal and discipline involving personnel in the department. * Controls waste of materials and other direct and indirect costs to operate maintenance within budgeted costs. * Develops and maintains relationships with outside vendors, suppliers and contractors to ensure continuity of resources to effectively meet maintenance performance standards. * Manages and coordinates breakdown, corrective and preventive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime and optimize utilization. * Improve safety by ensuring equipment is 100% compliant to safety requirements. * Increase machine uptime efficiency as measured by existing metrics. * Reduce scrap as measured by existing EBITDA. * Maintains overall facilities internal and external and related activities. _DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:_ * Coordinates with other management staff to ensure efficiency in preventative maintenance and new equipment installations. * Develops and recommends equipment specifications, performance requirements, cost analysis and proposals for integrating machinery, equipment and tooling into the manufacturing process. * Monitor and evaluate production efficiencies including but not limited to scrap generation, identifying ways to reduce scrap and ensuring product quality standards. * Develop manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling and installing components. * Assures system and product quality by designing testing methods, testing finished product and confirming fabrication, assembly and installation processes. * Provide necessary support to maintain and utilize the maintenance software to better coordinate work orders, repair requests, parts inventory and preventative maintenance schedule. * Leads and sets accountability in a way to ensure peak performance within the team and across the plant. * Trains employees concerning plant and job hazards and the methods in order to protect themselves. * Supports the Plant by recommending and implementing methods for eliminating waste such as restructuring jobs, reorganizing work flow, reallocating tools/equipment. * Effectively develops and improves existing equipment specifications, performance requirements, reduces machine downtime, and maintains/develops effective standard work. * Works closely with Human Resources, Environmental Health & Safety, and others to ensure compliance with regulations. _KEY RELATIONSHIPS:_ * Front-line Employees * Maintenance / Engineers within the plant and across Associated Materials. * Plant Manager and Plant Leadership Team * Corporate Safety and Operations Leadership Team _EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:_ * Bachelor's degree desired or equivalent work experience * Minimum 5 years of experience in equipment maintenance and process improvement in a manufacturing environment * Lean Mfg concepts including flow, kaizen, JIT, etc. * Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures. * Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goads. * Performs a variety of tasks with a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. * Mechanical and technical aptitude for understanding of equipment functionality and capabilities. _SUMMARY:_ Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager the Shipping Manager is responsible for the accurate, timely and safe loading of all outbound products from the Cedar Rapids plant to end user customers, as well as sister plants, the safe receipt, storage, retrieval and timely dispatch of goods, and will control inventory levels by coordinating physical counts and assures conformance to Kanban pull system Primary Duties: * * Deep knowledge and understanding of AMI behavior, practice them, train subordinates, and promote and enforce it; * Practice, promote, and enforce all HR, safety, and quality policies and procedures regarding hiring, training, certification, audits, and disciplinary actions; enforce all policies & procedures; * Responsible for housekeeping, inspection for safety, a safe place for all, 5S, ease of operations, continuous improvement, glass-free floor, free of dust and debris, & training new EEs; * Responsible for hiring, developing, evaluation, and training of all employees in all areas; * Accountable for accurate, timely, safe loading of all outbound products, following and enforcing all loading procedures; * Manage freight utilization rate, communicate to PC and CS in advanced of loading, underutilized & overloaded trailers * Provide clear, concise, complete, and action-based communication to the managers and customer service; * Reduce and eliminate number of units waiting for trucks on Load Dates; * Assist the Plant Manager in: developing people; improving processes; reducing costs; quality monitoring and improvements; superior customer service; development and sustainment of lean initiatives; and on-time delivery; * Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the staging, loading and shipping of goods; * Responsible and accountable for the safety of all employees (all shifts) of the department; * Work with Cardinal Trucking to manage the traffic of trailers and trucks in the yard; organize and 5S * Confer with other managers to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments; * Able and willing to keep Senior Leads and Leads accountable to HR, Safety and Quality policies and procedures; * Avoid short ship without any prior written approval by customer service; * Prepare charts and reports, work orders, schedules, and other records and reports; * Balance & cross-train personnel to maintain maximum efficiency and output; * Identify and resolve barriers to plant throughput; review all SOP and make sure all employees follow; * Administer all assets inspections, recording and reporting. Reporting to the ISS Manager the Project Manager is responsible for the generation of full quantity project management estimates to include the requisite materials and labor to satisfy the job scope. This position covers the Madison Heights, MI and surrounding territory (about a 50-mile radius). * Estimating methods include, but are not limited to, field measurements and blueprints via cutting-edge takeoff software, training provided. * Interface with ASC sales people to identify the job requirements, specified products, and scopes of work. * Identify, screen and manage a subcontracted labor force that meets the corporate guidelines for job site deployment. * Manage contract fulfillment in the field to the required levels of expectation. * Cost containment responsibilities in regards to labor and materials consumption, overruns and shortages. * Identification of potential areas of conflict between product specification, and scope of work. * Duties may extend to full proposal generation once proficiency is reached in the aforementioned primary duties. * Windows and siding experience is highly preferred! * Must be a self motivated professional with a fluent understanding of the exterior construction process. * Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and scopes. * Must have strong knowledge of window/siding quality control and construction safety compliance. * Working understanding of product specification terminology. * Ability to communicate with sub-contractor base all the way up to senior leadership. * Special focus in exterior claddings and windows is a plus. * Ability to meet deadlines, communicate questions and concerns and search for creative solutions when needed. * Have a working understanding of digital estimating software, or be able to learn quickly. * Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel. * Must meet all other corporate hiring requirements.
